The Dems are at it again. An article from The Blaze...

http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2015/05/13/dems-have-a-bunch-of-new-ideas-to-stop-you-from-buying-ammunition/

May 13, 2015
Thirty-one House Democrats have proposed legislation that would prevent people from buying ammunition online, and would instead require all purchases to be made in person — a change they admit is aimed at preventing people from buying “unlimited” ammunition over the Internet.
The Stop Online Ammunition Sales Act, from freshman Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-N.J.), would also require all ammo dealers to be licensed by the government, and require bulk ammo purchases to be reported to the government.

Coleman said in a Facebook post (https://www.facebook.com/RepBonnieWatsonColeman) that the bill would “better track and regulate the unlimited market for ammunition currently available on the Internet.”
One of the bill’s cosponsors, Rep. Frank Pallone (D-N.J.), said in his own Facebook post (https://www.facebook.com/RepFrankPallone) that limiting ammunition is one of the best ways to curb gun violence.
“Far too many times, we have seen the shocking images of unspeakable gun violence that could have been prevented,” he wrote. “Our bill to limit the online sale of ammunition is a long-overdue common sense reform that I am hopeful will spark Congress to put aside party difference and come together to help prevent such senseless tragedies.”
“Reforming the unregulated online ammo market could prevent next gun tragedy,” he said.
The trouble for Democrats is that Republicans see attempts to limit access to ammunition as attempts to undermine the Second Amendment to the Constitution. Republicans just went through a similar fight, when the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives released a regulation that tried to ban a widely used type of ammunition used in the popular AR-15 rifle.
The ATF tried to argue the ammunition was armor piercing and therefore should not be exempt from an ammo ban, even though it had enjoyed this exemption for years. The ATF ultimately decided to pull back the ban (http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2015/03/10/atf-announces-its-delaying-ammo-ban-after-getting-over-80000-comments-but-seems-to-leave-the-door-open/) after it received nearly 90,000 comments, most of which opposed the plan.
But Democrats didn’t give up. Soon after the ATF reversed its decision, four Democrats proposed a bill that would codify the ATF’s original plan (http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2015/03/16/the-atfs-ammo-ban-is-backin-the-form-of-a-new-bill-from-democrats/).

The Stop Online Ammunition Sales Act, from freshman Rep. Only thing reporting bulk purchases will do is suppress freedom and tell JBT who to go after for confiscation.

Bullshit, zero effect on violence. Aurora theater shooter would still have massacred people.

“Far too many times, we have seen the shocking images of unspeakable gun violence that could have been prevented,” he wrote. “Our bill to limit the online sale of ammunition is a long-overdue common sense reform that I am hopeful will spark Congress to put aside party difference and come together to help prevent such senseless tragedies.” Pure unadulterated bullshit rhetoric.
“Reforming the unregulated online ammo market could prevent next gun tragedy,” he said. Not a chance

Just another step on the path to outright ban and confiscation of firearms to bring about a police state.

Get the phone and email lit up to Reps.

This is already in places like NY.

In Ct and Mass you need a state issued ammunition card which follows a similar process as getting a CCW card.

Who would have thought politicians from New Jersey would go after ammunition? They are doing such a fine job of regulating firearms already. [Sarcasm2]

From a post to the sponsor's Facebook page:

"Just to save you some embarrasment, please send my name to the list. I compete in weekend USPSA matches here in NJ, and I go through 1,000 rounds of ammo in a weekend. Please tell the mayor of Trenton I mean his city no harm, as his statement was 'nothing good can come from someone purchasing that much ammo' (I am paraphrasing). Well I have yet to win any money at these matches, but tell the mayor I am trying, so something good may come of it, if I keep purchasing ammo and attending matches. I also want you to know that every online dealer of ammo asks for an ID before you make your first purchase. This is what as known as 'industry regulation'. I understand you want to make some big points on the poduim your first run around in the congress, but you should stick to an issue that counts and actually does something to improve the lives of people. I wont even get into the fact that you obvously dont know how criminals purchase their ammo...hint, they dont do it legally like the rest of us. Get a clue PLEASE! We need smart people in government, not podium climbers...."
