One of the nation’s largest public school systems is preparing to include gender identity to its classroom curriculum, including lessons on sexual fluidity and spectrum – the idea that there’s no such thing as 100 percent boys or 100 percent girls.
Fairfax County Public Schools released a report recommending changes to their family life curriculum for grades 7 through 12. The changes, which critics call radical gender ideology, will be formally introduced next week.
Biologically, we have either XX or XY chromosomes, and either indoor or outdoor plumbing, so I don't know where these idiots are getting their data.[Mad]

I totally disagree...with the last line of your statement. There is NOTHING slow about the current strangulation of this once great country. ("Once great "= We're mediocre at best these days. While I believe we're still the greatest thing going, I have to wonder how long that will remain true if we, as a nation, continue on our path of self destruction.)
So, I was reading this article this morning before logging into the site. I found it particularly interesting that the school is moving forward with this when they have not yet developed a curriculum for this and can not provide any scientific data to support this agenda. I agree whole-heartedly with the last line of the quote below - it's an ideological, not scientific, concept. Yet, schools have been teaching/pushing many unproven scientific "theories" as fact for at least the couple of decades. I expect this to be no different. If it fits the Progressives agenda then it will be taught as "fact" to indoctrinate our children, regardless of any scientifically verifiable evidence to support it.
Rome has fallen, we just haven't watched the last pillar drop yet.
However, I’m always open to learning new things – so I asked the school district to provide me with the textbooks and scientific data they will be using to instruct the children that there are dozens and dozens of possible genders.
Here’s the reply I received from Torre:
“Lessons have not been developed for the proposed lesson objectives,” he stated. “Because of the need to develop lessons, the proposed objectives would not be implemented until fall 2016.”
In other words – they don’t have a clue.
And the Family Research Council’s Sprigg said there’s a pretty good reason why they can’t produce a textbook about fluidity.
“It’s an ideological concept,” he told me. “It’s not a scientific one.”
The end result is people like this "young adult" His "feelings" Just wait till he can't find employment.

That scratch off looks like a winner to me.
For you math majors; What are the odds, with only 26 letters to choose from, that the state lottery agency would get a random selection of letters that resulted in a scratch off with those letters and words in order, AND then that specific ticket went to a store where it was sold to a resident of Elmira?
Very suspicious. I don't know who is trying to send random messages to the residents of Elmira, NY, who happen to be buying scratch off lottery tickets, but I am guessing that Haliburton, Enron, Dick Cheney, the Illuminati, and most importantly Bush had something to do with it. [facepalm]
Oh, does this mean we have to stop using the phrase; Boys will be boys? Or do we need to add the qualification that they will be boys except when they are not but also not girls, and that all children are just whatever they feel like they are at any given moment.
I predict that one day our children's children will look back at us with disdain, because we actually tolerated bathrooms that were labeled Men or Women only.
Can I get a side of bigotry and an extra large cup of hate speech with my Happy Meal? Make that to go. [Sarcasm2]
At first, this bothers me. Then I think about it...
If it demonstrates to more parents that public schooling is nothing more than indoctrination, then maybe it's a good thing? Obviously they are no longer teaching children to be functioning adults. My anecdotal experiences confirms this.
Getting your kids out of the re-education camp takes sacrifice. It's a family vacation(s) that doesn't happen, or buying a used car instead of a new SUV. In Douglas we have vouchers that also help, although the Dems/teachers fight that every year (last election they had to lie and got close).
Oh, and we're not the only one noticing the need to escape the camps...
http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2015/05/12/obama-wealthy-ignore-poverty-by-sending-kids-to-private-schools/
Nevermind where Zero sends his kids or the apparent hypocrisy by much of the left. They pull out the race/socio-economic card when they have a goal. Their goal is to eliminate private education, just as they have eliminated private health insurance (privacy/choice) to gain control, or as they put it, create social and economic justice.
And "year round" is not being done for the benefit of the kids either. It's institutionalization. Kids need the breaks to be kids and teachers used to get those breaks as a fringe benefit. They need to keep the kids away from the parents to break the transfer of privilege (or values).
Our kids don't belong to us anyway...

Yeah, it's time for people to wake up and realize there is no coexistence/negotiation. If this helps, fine. I feel bad for the kids whose parents are slow learners but if they teaching gender fluidity, maybe being a slow learner is an asset?
This is a concerted effort to break down a strong society. They promote dysfunction while tearing down functional standards that have worked for millennia. What was wrong is now right, what was right is now wrong. Their intended goal is increased dependence on government.
That people identify themselves as different genders is an undeniable fact. However, recognizing that fact doesn't have to mean a change of curriculum. There is a different between a person's physical gender from birth, and how they feel inside. I think there are a lot more people who struggle with depression than who struggle with gender identity; but those two groups probably pretty heavily overlap. The point is that it's one thing to mention that some people identify as a different genders, but it doesn't need to be part of standard curriculum in high school. Just like with depression, if you want to learn more about it, go to college. We've had to deal with a kid in our daughter's class that decided one day to change genders. By "deal with" I mean that we were upset at first, then we did nothing and nothing has happened so far.

Because the government schools have succeeded so well at providing quality educations to all children who attend, they have decided to take on the ills of society and address the many psychological issues faced by our society.

I guess I don't get the whole internal struggle with "gender identity". You're either male or female. Regardless of how you "feel", you're either male or female. You may not like your gender, you may not "identify" with your gender, but you're either male or female. Through modern medical technology you may even be able to change your plumbing. But you're still biologically either male or female. Chromosomes don't lie.
(OK...for all you who want to argue specifics of chromosome abnormalities, I'm referring to normal genetic makeup...not the relatively rare exceptions to the human male/female chromosome arrangement.)

I think that is the point most people are trying to make. People are going to find unique ways to internally identify themselves no matter what we do. I don't think it is responsible for schools to encourage that and find it unnecessary to include in the curriculum.

I think that we are going to learn that a persons true gender is not determined by what is between their legs, but rather between their ears. And, unfortunately we understand so little of what goes on in our brains.
Bruce Jenner is a prime example... A woman, trapped in a mans body, who wishes to spend time with other woman. I really feel for him. Can you imagine living your entire life as a lie, pretending to be something you are not. I cannot fathom it He is the only redeeming feature of the entire Kardasian clan, as far as I am concerned. Very brave of him to come out as he did. Hopefully it will give some hope to the millions around the world in similar situations.

Jenner and the Kardashians are media whores. I think they'd do anything for attention, including Bruce's 'revelation'. I wouldn't hold them up as role models for anything positive.
Schools need to teach kids the basics so that they can continue to educate themselves. They're so focused on social engineering that they're not teaching kids what's really important. It's no wonder that so many parents end up sending their kids to private schools or home schooling.

I've read a lot about it over the years and I get gender dysphoria; I really do. That said, what I don't find acceptable for any age, particularly within the schools of primary education, is the allowance of someone who claims (a claim is all that is required as there is no ability to prove/disprove it*) to identify with a gender other than that which their genital-based physiology identifies them, to utilize the bathrooms and locker rooms of those who do not share the same genital-based physiology. Penis possessed being do not belong in vagina/breast based restrooms or locker rooms and vice versa.
In addition to the potential psychological trauma to those who those facilities were designed for, the exposure to differing genitals should be decided by parents and the individual, not some damned progressive do-gooder wanting to "help" the gender-confused person feel comfortable. What of the comfort of the greater number of individuals who are affected?
This is an example of where I honestly believe the needs of the few do not outweigh the needs of the many. Even if we discount the relative moral absurdity of this situation, this is an absolute violation of common decency.
What was wrong is now right, what was right is now wrong.
Look back through my posts over the last several years and you'll see I've said that EXACT thing many, many times. Sadly, it's only getting worse.
ETA: * There are multiple gender identity tests in use by the psychological community, yet every one I've seen is easy enough to obtain the results your individual is working for if they aren't honest with their answers. Additionally, the article made no mention of requiring such tests to obtain access to those typically out-of-bounds areas - only a claim.

I agree with this. The thing about the apparently transgender kid in our school was the bathroom issue. This kid is being raised by his grandma, that doesn't really have a clue about what is going on. Kids his age shouldn't even know about this issue, and I go back and forth between feeling like he watched that episode of South Park (no parents) and that he really feels this way on his own (no parents). I talked to the teacher a bit, and she said that it was kind of a given and the other students didn't blink an eye and weren't at all surprised. If this were tenth grade, I could see it, but this is 2nd grade. I kind of feel that it is not unreasonable to tell a kid to act a certain way until they are a bit older. This kid has had other issues in the past, but again, I've chalked that up to the whole no parents thing. It doesn't at all help that this kid is infatuated (again, apparently) with my kid.
One thing that strikes me as a bit dichotomous, is that most of these cases that I've seen, are men identifying as women. I can't think of a single case of a female identifying as male. I don't know if this can be tied to society eschewing and dismissing the importance of being male, and making up for centuries of male based society by over-singing the praises of women or what, but it strikes me as odd that society would bend over back-ward for the desires of a select few of men.
As to the second sentence in this quote, nothing will get kids used to accepting a male identifying as female faster than still requiring that individual to use male restrooms and locker rooms. It strikes me as an extremely lazy, with an equally extremely thin veneer of women power, tactic to just sweep these gender struggling males into the women's restroom and declare that anyone who doesn't like it is a weak-minded bigot. You want to identify as a woman, then you better be ready to own it, and live it, in the men's room. If you make it out of high school and still feel that way, then damnit, you've earned it.

Dogs and Cats living together... Mass hysteria! Sorry, that's what your post reminded me of.
What I don't understand, and you can include the homosexuality debate with this, is that we're (society) catering to a very small portion of the population. Transgender makes up an estimated .3% of the population is transgender. Compare that to roughly 2.3% of the population identifying as homosexual. So why are we catering to such a small portion of the population? I know maybe a handful of gays (less than 20), and out of that very small handful I know ONE person who was born a man, but currently lives as a woman. Kids between puberty and adulthood (legal adulthood, ie 18) don't even know what's going on with all the hormones and what not going on. Hell, when I was 18 couldn't decide if I liked blonde women or brunette women better, much less anything complex, like what on earth a "gender neutral" person was. Sure, after high school I found out a kid a grade below me changed genders in his mid 20's, and we always wondered about him, but it's not something that happens with any real frequency in our schools that would warrant education or much less shifting policy toward this.
The thing that would anger me as a parent, and not being one it's impossible to fathom the real feelings of parental responsibility, this much I recognize, but being a responsible adult and empathizing with others who do have kids, if I had a daughter and I discovered a male student at her school "identified" as a female and the school considered allowing this young man (born a man and having male genitalia) to utilize female facilities, I would be very disgusted and angry. Granted, my experience, working in a jail and having to deal with this issue once before in that setting, it is a different case. We can't cater to someone's feelers, we approach from the safety and security standpoint. In schools it's a whole different monster where we feel that we can't harm a "confused" child's gentle sensibilities. Is the occurrence so frequent that this even needs to be addressed on such a large scale? If Jefferson County Schools put out a new policy where children who "identified" as a different gender were allowed to use that gender's restroom and locker rooms, would there even be enough children that would necessitate the need for the policy to extend to more than one school? I consider this the eroding of norms that have been clearly established in our society that have worked for over 100 years without much issue.
Side note: on one occasion I was dragged out to a gay bar with a couple of gay friends, and found that they have one all-gender restroom. Talk about uncomfortable! Is this where we are eventually headed? If so, I don't want to live on this planet anymore.

The way society is headed, if I were to build a new restaurant or other place requiring rest rooms, I would probably have a communal sink area with individual genderless stalls equipped with privacy doors. Not sure how I could make them big enough to accommodate Roseanne Barr without having a George Michaels incident in one of the stalls but at least it would cut down on the women complaining about toilet equity.
I am rather annoyed that society is spending so much effort on a relatively powerful sub-minority. What do you do when the anti-Western/anti-Christian/anti-capitalist/anti-whatever types have taken over the public schools, the law schools, the judiciary, mass media, etc.?

Do they try to sell you the DVD of the reenactment afterwards? Matthew Brady photographs they are not.
