View Full Version : me and Guntroll P-dog hunting!!!! enter at own risk...pics are gruesome!
Guntroll is leaving CO very soon so we enjoyed a great time and took out some P-dogs for his final farewell to CO (at least for now).
We forgot to keep count, but I would say we both easily took out 50 P-dogs each!
.22-250 AI and .17 HMR were Guntrolls tools of choice, and I used my rem. 700 ADL in .243 with 87 grain V-max, a 16" AR flattop shooting 55 grain hornady V-max and a 10/22 .920 heavy barrel with AAC aviator silencer.
a great time was had by all...well except these guys:
yes those are grasshoppers on his hood.....there were thousands of them everywhere!!

Nice shootin!![Alrigh]
I am sure the hawks and little ground owls and coyotes and whatever else really enjoyed them!
Hydroshock!!
I hit one with a side shot and he flew up into the air, in 2 pieces spinning away from each other. VERY NASTY but he was dead on impact I can assure that!

Oh my gosh, those pictures were absolutely disgusting!
WHY DIDN"T YOU WARN US?
[ROFL1][ROFL2] (I crack myself up) [ROFL1][ROFL2]
Soooooo, I noticed that you failed to mention WHERE the two of you went. Is it on private or public land? Is the location a secret, or will you let us in on it?
I promise that I'm not trying to be antagonizing, I just wanna get some P'Dogging in too.
BTW: Great huntin'!

Yeah, I suspected as much. DRAT!
Now, if I could just find a private landowner around Colo Spr that would allow me to come do a little P'Dogging I'd be a happy man.

Nice!!! I really need to get out, it's been a while.
have a question. do I have to have some kinda license/permit to shoot P-dogs? is that difficult to find the place where to shoot 'em? sorry for lame questions, I just never tried it.

yes and no. private land you need nothing and can shoot them year long.
public land there is a "season" essentially and you need to have a small games license.
I always have a small game license anyway, and I think you would be hard pressed to find a DOW guy who gives a shit about you shooting P-dogs...you never know and it might not be a good risk, but since i shoot on private land i don't really worry about it.

What's evil was using our morbid fascination to draw our attention back to that pic

AWESOME!
Wow, it's green this year out the high plains and I haven't seen hoppers like that for years... I'm guessing trout will be even more voracious on hopper flies come SEP.
I need to get out and visit my friends in the Cheyenne Wells/Burlington area and give the new Stealth upper a run.
Excellent going away trip!

Oh yeah, I need to duplicate some of my favorite pics I've seen on-line... Guess I'll have to use a Coors in place of the PBR, but they're usually not that "in tact" after a .22-250 or .223 V-Max.

You know I just looked at the pics again and realized I might not be right in the head because I just laughed out loud when viewing the pics. Mid laugh I wondered what I was laughing at.......carnage! I must be sick!
If that's sick I think you're not alone.[ROFL1]
Gwas prairie dogs. I need to get out there soon.
