For any new forum members here looking for a local place to get some training I highly recommend Kelly. I attended the pistol class last year and was in this rifle class over the weekend.
I have never had any other formal training with firearms. These classes gave me a chance to learn very good fundamentals, what to practice and how to practice. The results are easy to quantify with timer and accuracy on target. Kelly is very good in quickly identifying what you are doing to maximize your active time. I am able to take away and practice either dry fire or live when I get a chance.
The information Kelly is passing down cuts through a lot of haze in our modern shooting world. The favorite saying from the weekend was "Sacred cows make the best hamburger". The best analogy I can make is the revelations that occurred during the Viet Nam war where we lost our dog fighting abilities because we thought only missiles would be needed. All the BS that happened with the process from prop to jet fighters was stripped back to and the proof was our kill/death ratio changing so dramatically. Another example is Bruce Lee throwing away all the dogma of what he was taught and distilled it down to techniques that worked. I see the same with many martial arts programs where too much stuff is added and much is thrown out when the real world steps in and you see what works and what does not work.
Kelly is able to present the information clearly. The information is not so overwhelming that you are not able to preform. He can quickly diagnose when you are having problems. As always safety was of maximum concern.
It was fun to meet other members from the board. Most were word of mouth. Smaller class than the pistol class but that just means we had more instructor/student time.
Looking forward to the combined class if my schedule allows.
Again if you ever want some great training, very reasonable prices hit up his class. The majority of the money Kelly collects goes to the shooting program at the Air Force Academy where he instructs the cadets. So to use the favorite phrase of the left....."Its for the children".
Thanks again Kelly and to the new friends met at the class.
