I need to have my house painted. Figured I would ask here first. Looking for recommendations/referrals. I would rather hire a small Colorado company and keep my money local. Also if you know somebody to stay away from I would like to hear that as well.
My house is located in northeast Thornton.
Thanks for your help!

Ive had 2 homes painted by Vivax and they were great. I think they may be franchises so can't vouch for up north but in the Douglas County area, I've been very satisfied with them.

Vivax did mine last summer, did my parents and a rental two years ago, did good work.

These guys don't spray and dry roll (which picks paint back up from the painted surface). They only use Kwal Ambassador Series 100% acrylic paints made for our climate. The paint put onto our home will last for quite some time and we're well protected from the elements. They also followed-up with us to make sure we were happy with the results. These folks were top-notch.

I used College Pro Painters. They did a great job and the price was very competitive.

Thanks for the replys! I have contacted some of them and they are working on some estimates. If you have more recommendations let me know!

If you want to ask your Dad if he would be interested that would be great. It's a smaller house so it might be a good side job for him.

After you get estimates contact your local Sherwin Williams to see when their half off sale is coming up and I think it's next weekend. We got quotes that ranged from $6,000-$9,000 (throwing out the absurd ones that were even higher than that) and ended up doing it ourselves (just my wife and I) over a few days for a cost of less than $500 ($440 as I recall) using their 2nd to the highest quality paint. I own sprayers & rollers & such but we ended up doing the entire thing with brushes by hand and I'm confident the job we did will last an awful long time. If you can make the time on a weekend or maybe even bribe some friends w/beer & food and plan to do it when the weather is nice it's not that bad at all really. Just drink water, work with the shade (read: West side in the morning and East side in the afternoon) it's a great way to save some serious money with the prices painting place try to charge these days.

I'd probably laugh at a $6,000 quote to paint most houses.

I did. This is why we painted it ourselves. The quotes our neighbors were getting was the same. It was absurd. Maybe everyone was painting their house a few years ago and nobody had the time but everybody was charging absurd prices.

6k for a single story?

6k for a single story?

Ours is a ranch, yes. There are some tall sections due to the land but it's still largely a single story. Also, some of our neighbors are 2-story and those tended to be the higher quotes but still.

I had Beyond the Brush Painters do the painting on my 2-story home. They came in several hundred less than Vivax and did a great job.

ETA - I did try a couple of local businesses before I went with Beyond the Brush. One had all of his painters quit and the other didn't bother to show for a quote.

I've been getting ridiculous quotes for interior paint jobs lately ($2,200 for half of a living room) so I'm not surprised to hear that exterior quotes are just as absurd. I'm new to this market but it still seems out of whack to me.

Used them also. They did a good job but with ANY of them you really need to be home. If I had not been able to watch and have them toe the line I would not have gotten everything agreed to. The end result was great. Again, I think they all need to watched.

I used Vivax as well.
