Apparently the fastest route to Colorado from Texas is going to NJ and coming back through PA.

USPS has been good 80% of the time for me; however, they do mess up now and then, and when they do they mess up BIG.

Really USPS, Really? Do you think that I can still expect this today?

I bet it shows up today. I've ordered stuff before with goofy tracking info like that.

Had an item shipped from Ohio. Went to somewhere in Kansas. Then it went to Oregon. Then to Washington state. Then Kansas again. I think it was still in Kansas when it was sitting on my front porch.

Nada, not in the mail today. Actually talked with my fav Post man, he said nutting for me today. Showed him the tracking info and he just chuckled and said some one in Texas thinks the State abbreviation for New Jersey is CO. :)

USPS tracking is HORRIBLE... HORRIBLE!

As far as packages flying around the country.. the #1 reason is people reusing boxes and not covering up old labels. How is joe schmoe supposed to know which one is which.

Yeah that is a likely causality of shit like this happening, I am assuming since it was shipping from a very reliable retailer that would not be the case. We will see when it "actually" shows up.

Have lost two packages thru USPS. I will never send packages through them again. Ups or Fed Ex.

We all have our experiences, but the lesser of the three evils for me is USPS. UPS and FedEx both have completely lost packages and a pain to get any resolution from them. FedEx lost my Mother in laws expensive medications one time, try battling with insurance to resend medication because a package was lost in shipping.

I find this completely laughable, glad I was not counting on anything to be here today.

Sorry to hear about your woes with the USPS brother!! I hope that it works out for you.

USPS has been pretty decent to me, and they have not lost anything that I have sent or was sent to me. They did however, damaged a custom built computer that I sent to my mom years ago but they did pay for the damage. I guess that I've been lucky so far.

Never had a problem before with PA/Shipping until this order, so not sure what went wrong.

I ordered a trigger and had it shipped to a member's house. Picked USPS and the tracking never showed it left PA. It also took 2 weeks to get there. PA said it's been happening a lot with them. Hence my earlier comment about it actually updating. I bet the recipient had thought I gave him BS tracking until it actually showed.

Had it happen with all of them. Watched packages do a round the states travel many times. Watched packages get 8 miles from my place and take off again back east. The worst was when Fed-Ex said they could not find my house 3 days in a row. Built in 74 and on all maps ever since. And they left a rifle "Adult signature required" on my porch when nobody was at home saying I had signed for it. I think that contractor was out of a job after I took it to them and he had fudged the sig, not even close.[LOL]

Pretty funny...in a ridiculous kind of way considering today's shipping technology.

The Post Office, in my experience, is cheaper, faster and more reliable than UPS. Flat Rate Priority is a fantastic bargain. Yeah, their tracking is a little suspect. I'll frequently receive something that says it's never even been accepted by the USPS for shipping. I will never willingly use FedEx. Especially FedEx Ground. I can't even begin to count the ways FedEx Ground sucks.

I frequently use a friend's address to ship packages to because my work schedule does not line up with the apartment office (and shipping companies always leave it at the office). Twice in the last week or so, UPS has rolled up to his house after 9pm, dropped the package on his porch and hauled ass. No knock or anything. Not the best idea considering the weather lately.

UPDATE:

Shows it arrived in Broomfield today. Wonder what tales the package could tell me. [Beer]

My last one was clearly labeled and no other reason for it to get to the sorting station here before taking off again back east. Box was in suprisingly good shape.

Not the best, I agree. Only takes a few seconds more to knock or push the doorbell.

I'm usually at my computer or have my phone with me.
I always get a text or email shortly after they scan it and leave it (same with Fedex....USPS sends one too, but it seems like it arrives delayed later in the day/evening).

I've heard that they are required to deliver everything on their truck before they end their day (except signature required items) and that they are monitored via GPS. (true or not, that's just what I heard).
I'd 'guess' a large majority of recipients are not home anyway. (If UPS knocks on a tree in a forest to deliver a package, and no one is there to hear it, does the knock make a sound ?[facepalm])

Personally, I'm "OK" with no doorbell or knock, as long as I get the text/email.
If I got 'nothing' to say it had been delivered, I'd have an issue then.
...but that is just me.

JERRYMRC:

Let's not forget about the package you tried to send me a while ago.
You took it to the post office with a prepaid Priority mail label and left it on the counter.
The next day it arrived at YOUR house.
You called me to see why I 'refused' it and sent it back.
After we did some 'investigation', we found that they just delivered back to you and it never left your town.

It was one of those 'Boy I'm Mad !!!' / 'Ya Just Gotta Laugh' moments.[Beer]
