Does the mini 14 make a good suppressor host?

Poor bastardization of a beautiful battle rifle.

Not sure what the benefits for using that subpar weapon system would be over an AR platform. With everything known about mini 14's I can't see how it is a viable option.

Not defending lackluster performance of the mini14. But I wonder isn't the gun a tappet action design? If so at least in theory it could be quiter than an AR. In practice it would be just as loud if I had to guess.

Yes it's a op rod style carbine, like a M1

The ONLY thing that even kept that piss poor design in production was the fact Ruger practically gave them away to LE agencies.

The Mini-14 makes a terrific silenced rifle....it's very silent when you don't shoot it. The action wouldn't be very good for suppressing: very loose, leaky, just plain noisy by itself.

Outside of the old issues with the Mimi platform, my thing is you need to buy ruger or other aftermarket mags which limit it to 15 rounds. It's nothing one cannot do Cheaper with an AR. Their Bolt Actions have received high praise.
