I have a 9mm AR pistol that I'm thinking about SBRing in the near future. I've looked into having somewhere like IDent do the markings, but was wondering if there were any local options that would just let me take it in and walk out with it. It would be nice to save some time and $ by not shipping it.
Any recommended engravers?
Argonstrom and ColoradoGunWrites come to mind. Both have excellent reputations.
John/Argonstrom is a partner here, I'd start there first and take a look at the forum to see some of his work.

Colorado Gun Writes is the goto for NFA laser engraving.
You can make an appointment and watch Troy do the most excellent work.
He's at all the Tanner shows in Denver too, but only does cosmetic engraving there with a portable machine. You can talk to him and see his handiwork if desired first.

+1 for Troy at CGW, great work. He did my lowers on the inside edge of the magwell bevel and it is very discreet.

Plus one with the same job from Troy. Excellent work. I'll be seeing him again soon for my next upon approval.

+1 for Troy at CGW, he was the only person who would touch my Polymer lower, and it turned out great.
+7 to GunWrites. He has done all mine so far and I will continue to use him.
+1 for CO Gun Writes, did a fantastic job.
After 5 or 6 comments about Troy's work, I'd expect someone to mention the pokemon by now. :)

For guys on the south side Denver, COS Pueblo I can do nfa engraving. I am in Castle Rock. For those that have asked, we can do very discreet placement of your name and we do it while you wait. Most NFA engraving jobs are done in 30 minutes or so.
For folks on the south side of Denver, C-Rock, Parker, E-ville, etc. that can't make the time/trip to CGW, you can also take your NFA stuff to Tim @ DangerLeeIndustries aka colorado_hack as he is Class 2 SOT(07 FFL/SOT) - I think I got that right.

I had some work done by Paddy and was happy. Nice to have a local option. Also had work down by CGW and he did nice work but just a trek for us south folk.

It's nice to see options for this is finally expanding out beyond what it use to.
I just got back from Troy's place a little while ago . . . did a nice job on engraving my SBR lower. Friendly dude, too.

Just got back from meeting with Troy at CGW. Super nice guy and did a great job. I also had it done on the inside edge of the magwell, it is so discreet and looks awesome.

He said that was a place that he could engrave when he did mine . . . I just decided to go with the side of the lower on the magwell. But I thought that idea of putting it on the inside edge was pretty cool.

Do you do laser engraving? Just curious. I have 2 SBR's I need to get done and not happy with anyone in the Springs work.

Yes I do. I do all types of engraving including NFA. I have had several guys including ffl's that have come up from the Springs and are very happy. I do them while you wait. For 2 you should be out in around 45 minutes.

Just met Troy at Colorado Gun Writes yesterday. He did great work in very short order on my 9mm SBR. Looks way nicer then the mechanical engraving I had done on older SBRs, too.
I've been thinking about using Colorado Gun Writes. How long did it take?
Maybe 5-10 mins if you're ready to go when you get there with exactly what you want. A little longer if you want to talk to Troy about options or want to take a look at some of the other cool stuff he's done.
Well shit, I was thinking it would be in the order of weeks. Got any pictures of he did for you?

Sweet, we should hang out lol.
My SBR was done by CGW as well. Looks great. Even blacked it out for me.

Troy has a presence on Facebook as well. Don't have to belong to FB to see it. Some customers have posted pics of work he did for them -> https://www.facebook.com/ColoradoGunWrites
Troy is one of my best friends so I'm biased about his work. But really, the man is very creative and meticulous (you should see what he did to a vintage camera he gave me). Even though he's on Facebook and has a website (I built those for him), he's a face-to-face person. He likes talking to people rather than texting them. That's why it's always best to call him.
As it turns out I've seen his work in person without knowing it. I'm definitely going with CGW. I know I'm not supposed to because of potential mistakes but I'm waiting for my stamps to get the engraving done.
