View Full Version : Weight loss update, before & after pics
OK, y'all probably remember this thread about my gastric bypass surgery https://www.ar-15.co/threads/138641-Made-it-through-alive!
Finally got around to some before & after pics. Started at 332, currently down to 195. Loss is at 137lbs so far and holding. Went from 4x/5x shirts and 56 jeans to 1x shirts and 38 jeans. Still have some squishiness, another 20-25 lbs. would suit me just fine. But I'm damn happy to be where I am now!
For perspective, pick up two 60lb. bags of Quikrete, with three 5lb. bags of sugar on top, that's 135 lbs. Carry that around a little, then think about having that weight permanently attached to you 24/7/365. Walking, up & down stairs, up and down ladders, sleeping, everything you do, all the time. Large amount of suck there, I'm glad it's gone!
Still need a haircut though.....not getting any younger or prettier either.

Wow, it's like half of you is gone.
Congratulations on your success. Hopefully, your transformation allows you to do more of the things you always wanted to in life.

Almost half. I've lost more than my wife weighs total. But she's still around.....

Looking good brother. I'll bet you feel a whole lot better too. Just make sure you stay healthy too.
Your pics are starting to motive me to get off my fat @$$ and drop this weight I've put on over the last 10 years.
BTW, did you notice that all of your shirts are plaid?
ETA: changing your appearance so drastically is perfect for a self-styled Witness Protection Program.
Wow congrats! Any advice / regrets / thoughts to share? The mental side of this has to be even bigger than the physical side.
Yes, I'm a plaid kinda guy. Plaid disguises bulges ya know. I won't wear Harley t-shirts anymore, I'm not gonna give them free advertising.
Looking good Ron!
I'll bet your knees thank you for this every day.

I regret not doing it years ago! It was much more of a non-issue than I could have imagined. Just don't eat as much, watch calories and fats, and eliminate sugars and carbs as much as possible. Sodas are evil! I drink mostly water now, and Sparkling Ice drinks are wonderful, with 0 calories, sugars or carbs.
Wow . . . that's a dramatic difference. Looks like a completely different person. Congrats!
Congrats!! Maybe look in to and find a competent personal trainer around you to get some input on some easy workouts you can do around the house. That would help firm up and build on that "squishiness".

Keep it going. I joined a gym 9 weeks ago and there is a difference that people are noticing now and I am feeling way better and my knees don't hurt so much.
Good on ya!
Awesome! I'm sure you feel like a rock star too
Yeah, one o' those old, worn-out sumbitches that's already blown thru all his money.....

Way to go! Congrats![Beer]
Congrats that is an awesome accomplishment.
Thanks all, you make me smile!
Another congratulations! You're on your way to a longer, healthier life.
Wow, way to go rondog! I'd never recognize you now
I am amazed. You look great, Ron! What an inspiration. :)
Congratulations Ron! Sounds like you've got the diet aspect worked out which is super important (not just portions but also what you eat). Just make sure you also start mixing in a good exercise routine on top of what you've already done. This is what will help keep you from regressing and more importantly keep you healthy and make you even healthier. Weight loss is only part of the equation to health. Your body will thank you if you shift your focus to cardio & strength training of some sort. Hope that doesn't sound like I'm bagging on your success... just want to see you continue to be successful is all. As you know, we both fight a similar battle so I feel like I'm talking to myself as much as I'm talking to you.
