I have a window well that is just over 20 years old and is rusting out at the bottom, is there anyone in the Ft. Collins area that does that kind of work?

Is it possible to just cut one to size and weld the new one in place inside the old one?

You could but it's probably galvanized. You need massive air flow blowing away from you if doing that stuff. The fumes are highly toxic. If you could get one to fit inside, there's always use of lagfe sheet metal screws.

I'll check with my brother tomorrow and see who he uses when one of his listings needs a new window well. I'm pretty sure he's dealt with this a few times. In the meantime, I, too, like to start with the forum membership to try to keep the business "local."

If you have the room, dig it out and put in a block wall with egress steps. I have heard that metal wells are subject to anodic corrosion from acting as an (inadvertent) electrical ground source for the foundation steel. Most builders are using precast concrete window wells nowadays. If its not code compliant it would be a good time to make it so for resale, just a thought.

A lot of work either way.
