In my tradition of Total Ignorance and with no information findable at the FRIDPA site, I wonder if someone will share the protocol for the rifle side match. I assume most folks will be wielding those nasty little 5.56 toy carbine things...but all I have is an FN 49 in .30-06, with no clips. Can I shoot 'the last of the WWII battle rifles' at the side match, or will it be too loud and punch through too much to be allowed?
[I'm KIDDING guys...] Seriously, what's allowed and what's not?
As copied from the FRIDPA website -
Rifle/Carbine
Two (three) divisions. Service and Enhanced. No caliber or capacity restrictions. Muzzle breaks allowed in both. Optics or laser devices bump you into Enhanced. Multiple optics bump you into “Outlaw” division.
For Rifle / Carbine plan on targets from point blank out to 30 yards. Bring 75-100 rounds of ammo. That’s more than you would need, but you can take it home with you. Always a better bet than borrowing unproven ammo from someone else. Leave the tracer ammo at home. A mag pouch helps in case there is some type of reload.
So, if you wanted to shoot a .50 BMG, that is your call. Last rifle match was a start load of 10, then max cap on the rest at 8 or 9 targets.
The rifle matches are more of a tactical rifle challenge. If we could get use of the rifle bays for some long range shooting then we could really have some fun, but I believe we are restricted to the pistol bays only.
I have a Kel-Tec Sub 2k in .40 and a PSL in 7.62x54r (overkill IMO for less than 100m and more of a handicap). Not sure what I am going to shoot yet, I'll have to see about maybe both if time permits.
There is a sticky here called "Side Match Info." Two threads up...
