New to the club and soon to be AR owner

So as the title states I'm new here... Hello everybody. Shout out to mutt you have be awesome in advice and info bro thanks much. My name is Mickey and I'm 29, living on the western slope in Grand Junction, CO. I have shot numerous rifles and some pistols but never owned a gun. No military background unless you count cod and bf as prior experience... Lol jkjkjk. No offensive puns intended to those that have given service to our country. Just trying to break the ice. Anyways I'm new to the game of owning guns and like I have mentioned to mutt, although I'm super handy and a quick learner I don't know my ass from my elbow on guns, accessories, and parts. I only have the general knowledge what I learned from cod and bf as well as recent learning from YouTube gun videos, these and other ar/carbine forums, and what mutt has taught me. I'm a college student and I volunteer at the Center for Independence here in town so I'm not always available but any info, tips, and/or advice on AR's and Carbine's, parts, good quality deals, etc etc would be great. Thanks for having me guys and thanks in advance for any future posts!!

Plenty of places to shoot in your area. Find a few people who like to shoot and hang out and go shooting.

Guns are tools and a hobby for many of us. Whether it is just relaxing and practicing, or training for self protection, I find it useful to have a purpose for any gun I own. Each of us are different and whatever works for you, as long as you are respectful and curious, you should enjoy your time here on the board. This is a community. Spend some time getting to know us by reading and asking questions. Don't take anything you read on the Internet too seriously and hopefully you will fit right in.

There is no point in spending money on accessories until you have the gun in hand. I recommend building as bare bones as possible, THEN go to the range, and start deciding what you want from there.
It's like asking about who makes the best clear tail lights before even having a car picked out.
