The last few weeks have just sucked. Trying to build a new garage and then the hail got 3 cars a few weeks ago and the G8 is in the shop right now. Two days ago a wicked rain/hail storm dumped 3.19" in just a few hours. Never had water in the basement in 18+ years but it was a mess.

I guess we are better off than some that had water running through the front door. Across the street had a foot downstairs. I am ready for the weather to go away. [Rant2]

Definitely lots of it this year. I love the rain so we don't have drought and not on watering restrictions and don't even really have to water which is great. Hail just sucks, I hate even thinking about it!

Lots of rain = no huge June forest fires. In every life a little, or a lot, of rain must fall. Colorado has never been greener in June in my 35 years here. Lovin' it. Looks like MT in June.

On the other hand, the hail sucks and I know some have been pounded, and for that, my sympathy.

I have had a lake in my backyard and never minded. I think the rain overwhelmed the seals in the old windows to be honest. I have not seen this much water since the spring of 99 where it rained for 7 days straight.[Flower] Been a few casualties. Bottom rack of the albums had to be dried out. The living room batch.59082

No fires is good but one thing to consider...flooding is not covered by your standard home insurance policy while fire is. Lose/lose really.

I hope you find some relief soon. My parents mentioned that the Springs is getting hit really hard this spring. I had a couple friends who had issues with flooding in their basement...not much fun. I live on rock on a downward slope; my only issue is top soil erosion along with my driveway washing away and exposing jagged rocks while forming streams from the county drainage ditch they felt compelled to empty on my property. I've brought in a lot of dirt this spring to fix these issues from last spring and this spring; I've also spent time digging a new drainage ditch to divert the water.

Those blue tarps and a couple 4" thick 4' X 8' sheets of foam will cushion the hail from damaging your cars.

I have used furniture pads in the past and carry a couple in the trunk of the TA when I go to shows. The hail woke us up around midnight.
flooding is not covered by your standard home insurance policy Yep. If a pipe breaks your covered but acts of nature involving water are not.

It's not nature that is the issue, rather that the water is "ground water." At least for the wording on the policies I deal with.

I've been handling a lot of water claims lately, and now am getting even more than usual. I think the Springs has been getting more severe hail than up here in the metro area. Stay dry.

I hate to be a killjoy, but this year we're growing more fuel for another dry day. [Coffee]

It's funny how stuff like that works.

Thankfully, I've never had an issue with the two basement window wells filling or not draining well.

Being nearly at the crest of the hill on our street and having good slopes away from the house certainly helps.

Sorry to see all those LP covers a mess Jerry. If my office or basement ever gets wet, I'm going to lose a lot of good vinyl scored from AK in years past.

How high did the water get? I'm concerned about your carpet pad being soaked. The carpet can be dried, but that pad will hold the water like a sponge.

Not sure. It seemed to be confined to some areas. Did not flood the entire floor but rugs are wicks. The only rug that had a pad was in the guest bedroom and it was a thin one (1/4").

This month has validated my look at drainage when I was picking houses 11 years ago on my return from Korea. I consciously looked at the surrounding terrain and development when I was viewing houses and the drainage situation was one of the things I really liked about it. Sorry your luck has been worse than mine.
