View Full Version : Are the people on "alone" unarmed?
On the history channel the show about a bunch of dudes in the the North East, are they unarmed?
Would you go into Black and Grizzly bear country unarmed for a chance at 500,000?
I live in bear county. I walk out to my vehicle every day unarmed.
What do I win?

To each their own, I won't walk to the crapper unarmed, but that's just me, maybe I'm paranoid or something...

From what I gathered they were saying, they are mostly unarmed. I did see a bow, but most of the others only appeared to have knives. In that terrain and with the types of animals around, I believe I would have made a crude spear/walking stick pretty soon. I know it isn't the smartest to poke a bear with a stick, but I'd rather do that than poke him with a knife.

For half a million? Yep. Make it a full million and I'd probably do it naked.

It it obvious you don't know how to call in a squatch and what noises they make in the woods. They teach you these things on the history channel..cause it's...you know...history!

I'd think the massive film crew, production folks, trailers, craft service tables, and other such thing parked just out of camera view, help to keep any animal interference to a minimum.
I am more concerned with the moose and mountain lions.

It's the ghost of Confederate General Stonewall Jackson!

This was my thought.
I went to History.com and did some reading. No camera crew, everybody is on there own. They each have a camera to film themselves. It looks like most if not all have a knife and axe.
I think about seven feet of sharp stick would an early priority for me.

moose, absolutely. mountain lion? not so much. they are mostly opportunists, they usually don't even attempt to go after something that might fight back. id still have my head on a swivel but I've never really been concerned about mountain lions.

Apparently you haven't seen some of the cougars in my neighborhood !!

You really believe that shit? Wanna buy a bridge? The network's corporate lawyers wouldn't allow it. Besides, that type of footage from untrained amateurs wouldn't even be watchable. There's a crew, you bet your ass. And a caterer too.

I used to love The History Channel -- as well as Discovery, American Movie Classics, etc. Then they all deviated from what their names would lead you to think was on the network -- "reality" shows and Marxist propaganda on The History Channel, sheer stupidity on the Discovery Channel, crappy contemporary movies on AMC, etc. I'd rather buy DVDs or Blurays of old GOOD shows than watch most of the garbage their air now.
Channel 2.2 over the air is the This network and they show great movies all the time.
