Renaissance Festival in Larkspur.
Concealed is concealed, just wondering if they check for weapons at the entrance?
They didn't 3 or 4 years ago, the first and only time I've ever gone... Basically, just pay and walk in... pretty low key.
I go every year and they don't even peek at anything.
Carry concealed means carry concealed, they don't do pat downs.

They don't check.
I have both carried and not.

People are walking in with their period clothing carrying axes, longbows etc. Doth be a shiny thing you carrieth squire. They do have some security, but they're easy to spot.

Hopefully you're carrying something like this, because they didn't have glocks back then.

Just wear a corset with enough "lift" and they won't be likely to notice.
I work there. No, they do not check for CCW. If you bring in a sword, etc, they just asked that you ziptie is closed. Shouldn't be an issue. If you come out, say hi to the bald Royal Herald Trumpet player...

There are no metal detectors or pat downs. It would hard for them to enforce anything given the amount of metal that goes through the gates in the form of swords and other medieval weaponry. I think they are more concerned about you bringing in outside food or drink (as long as your firearm doesn't go off inside their spaces) -- I have had bags and water bottles checked to make sure I'm not bringing in anything other than water ...
Can I buy a mace there?
Yes... but remember, prices are inflated and the quality is .... leaving something to be desired.... but I'm a snob like that.

Thanks, that is what I figured, but wanted to be prepared just in case
I was thinking about stopping there next weekend to get some cheap food on my way to the Pikes Peak Hill Climb...

Nothing is cheap there...

Nothing is cheap there...
True, but I figure it'll be cheaper than the hot dog vendor at 12,000 feet :)

Last year they were checking bags (probably for outside food or obvious bombs, etc.) but I imagine lots of people carry concealed there. I saw a guy expose a nice-looking 1911 on accident last year. I complimented him. He looked flustered. I thanked him for carrying, and we both went on our ways. [Dunno]

Leave thy sword in thy cart.
Ginsue? Do you still do your thing there?

Leave thy sword in thy cart.
I laughed hard on that one, had this image of Monty Python for some reason.

As others have said, concealed is concealed, there are all other kinds of sharp weaponry there.
Talking about expensive, haven't been there in 6-7 years and they were expensive, but love the food; Funnel cake, steak on a stick, turkey legs, deep fried Snickers, corn on the Cobb, mmmmmm! now I am hungry.

I used to go there every year for a while, but last couple of years I haven't. I'll go this year, steak on a stake is cool....I usually blow about $100 on those and beer, but WTH? ..it's okay.
Bald heralder, eh? See ya there one of these damn weekends. I didn't know that Ginsue did a gig down there too? Cool.
He is a knife juggler. How did you think he got that name? [LOL]

One would think thatcarrying concealed at the Renaissance Festival is impractical, trying to conceal a broadsword is very difficult even if one were to walk stiff-legged.......
I try to go every year and have carried more often than not. I just have a second pouch now for my CCW while in my pirate costume. They're more interested in my long sword being sheathed than checking my coin purse.
I hope your piece falls out while you're spinning out of control on the Jacob's ladder.

I was going to say hi to you Saturday, but you looked busy. Some guy was asking you about your trumpet. It felt like we were 5 inches from the sun on that side of the jousting arena.

Aw man, I'm always busy, say hello anyways! It'd be nice to sit there and talk all day... yes, it is hot... even hotter in those damn uniforms... Next time, holler out a request, lol.

Ohh and fyi you can play better than the other guy. The third trumpet guy was busy telling people several times to not sit where the royal court sits. Folks hav e no clue.
