I seriously considered buying one in the late 80s and early 90s. Wife vetoed the idea. After the 2012 elections she brought it up again and said she regretted we didn't do it. Back then some were available in the 30s and 40s...really quite affordable.
But I don't want one in Adams Co...
Looks like it would make an awesome place to film zombie movies as well.
Someone with a good imagination maybe be able turn that into some coin.
Probably find better pic on UER.
I wonder how much asbestos is still in there. It could take the asking price to just take care of that.
Not every place even addresses asbestos, and even in places that do, you don't have to remove it just because it is there; just a special procedure for when/if you do remove it.
Call me a skeptic, but I can only envision endless numbers of very expensive problems.....flooding, mold, rust, electrical, critters, etc. Heavy-duty, military grade, industrial sized problems.
Looks like a great in door shooting range to me.

I have been in some old military bunkers, they are built to last. If I had it, I would start a UFO data file repository. You know, just in case...

If it is open to the public there is a special procedure just to leave it there. Everybody that works there has to be trained on how they are to deal with it. There has to be a plan to monitor it to make sure it hasn't become a hazard. And how to deal with it if becomes a hazard. There is more to this. Plus you have to document everything to prove you are complying with the regulations.
At one time it was impossible to get a loan buy someplace with asbestos in it.
I haven't worked around asbestos in about 7 years so my information on this may be out-of-date.

Suggested to the wife. She responded "Totally would do it, but it’s definitely out of our price range."
Damn.:(
There have been multiples of these for sale (including this one) -- and no one ever buys them for one very expensive reason: In the contract, mandated by the govt, it says that the buyer is responsible for ALL remediation and ALL COSTS associated with remediation in accordance with EPA and DoD guidelines. That remediation is for the ENTIRE acreage that you get with the silo - above and below ground.
These things used to house some nasty crap, and the gov dumped lots and lots and lots of waste out there. Estimated remediation costs on another one that myself and some investors looked at a few years ago was 30+ million.
The guy up in KS that got one and turned it into a living bunker got a great deal in that the silo was never finished and nothing ever moved into it. So he didn't have to pay to get rid of all the bad stuff.
Also, if you ever want to go inside one - there is a guy up in Greeley that has one that you can tour (mostly).
Then there is the one in Deer Park (Site 3 - Complex 2B) which is off limits but people go in there anyway (picts: http://forums.bf2s.com/viewtopic.php?id=142735). The other big ones around Denver (Bennet, Aurora/Lowry) are now used as trash facilities.
I am trying to figure out which Titan 1 site this is..
I'm sure that joint is full of asbestos and I would guess it would take more then asking price to get rid all properly. I know when we replaced are old oil furnace we wetted down the stuff wearing mask and threw it in the trash but that was a long time ago.
I found it funny that he said the tall fence and barbed wire made it pretty secure then shortly after showed the halls and rooms covered in graffiti. Would be cool to have but I ain't got the $$$$.

When my wife has a terrible day at work she jokes about getting a tiny house on some land in Wyoming and going off grid. I wish she had more bad days at work.

This is just like when you buy a gas station or laundromat.
I'd rather buy a piece of land and dig my own hole in the ground.....

Call me a skeptic.
Okay, you're a skeptic.
For some valid reasons.
