Where is the best place to look for a Mosin Nagant in working condition here in Denver? The furniture is of no significance as I am changing it but I'd like to find the best internals I can and don't want to be taken to the cleaners on price. If I'm gonna do that, I'll just order one online today. Anyone have any insight? As a side note, I'm a long term resident of Denver and a long term gun owner but I just found this forum so I just signed up and this is my first post. Hope to get to know each of you over time. I have a small arsenal of rifles/shotguns/ and mostly handguns but I'm not married to any particular make or model. I am a die hard fan of the Taurus 92. I've had them since 1988 and though I recognize that Taurus had a pretty rough 3-4 year period, those days are long gone. It would really be nice if everyone would give them a second chance. All one has to do is take a look at this months Guns and Ammo article on the best single stack CCW's to see that it's quality is right there with the best of them. And a lifetime, transferable full guarantee doesn't hurt either. Anyway, that's my Taurus rant. Looking forward to being on the list. thanks! Help me find a MOSIN!!!!

Welcome to the nut house

Big 5 will usually get a few at a time and let you fondle each. 5280 will also. Armslist has a few at any given time. Stick around here and earn access to the buy sell part of the forum and put a want ad up.

The Taurus thing is a lost cause here. I respect that you have your own experiences and agree the very early models were still good but you're not going to sway people who have been burned by Taurus repeatedly and that is the majority here.

Thanks for the info and the insight into the group Wulf. I did want to make it clear that though I have my feelings about Taurus, I never will try to push my point of view on anyone. I only mentioned that information so that people might get a small picture of who I am and what I am about. I also really like my G17 but just like all of my guns, it has it's weaknesses. I won't try to push my feelings about it on anyone either. I do my best to treat others the wy I like to be treated; that is, with respect and dignity but more importantly, with humanity. Enough said.
I will check out Big 5. I checked 5280's web site the other day but they had nothing listed. maybe I should call them. I always skim Armslist. That's like my morning read. lol Thanks again.

Welcome to the Site! I've seen some Mosin's at Cabelas, but I don't know much about them.

I kick myself often for not picking one up at Big 5 when they were $59. I don't think I would have shot it often, but for $59 how can you go wrong?

Most of the ones I saw at cabelas north were 91/30 spear length.

If you want to throw fireballs get an m38 or m44 depending if you want the 1# spike or not.

$200+ is the going rate it seems.

Skip. Just a few years ago you could get em in bulk for $49. They've gotten expensive quick

i shopped around a month or two back and only could find one reasonable and it was at a local pawn shop. $200. Anything else I found - Big 5 wanted $3xx something for it. Cabelas north didn't have anything.
5280 at the time had none too.

just my input. Good luck with the search.

Just about every gun shop in town will have one. Gander gets them in numbers from time to time, I've seen numbers of them at 5280 I think, Jax used to get them but I haven't been in there since they went anti black rifle.

I can't help you on the Nagant but I want to welcome you to the madness. Also, I agree with you on the Taurus 709 Slim. Over the years I have had four or five different Taurus revolvers with less than stellar results. But this little 9MM is a "whole nother thing" Based on the G&A article, myself and a couple of my friends bought them. We have put several hundred rounds of my junk reloads through them and they just plain run. We have had exactly zero malfunctions and all the guns have fairly decent triggers and good accuracy. To top it off I got mine from Florida Gun Exchange for $229.00 + $20.00 shipping. I have found over time (a lot of time) that you can't always go with the herd opinion and have to find out what works for you.

Once again, welcome aboard!
