Looking to go out this weekend and pick up a Liberty Safe. I have 2 questions. Is there anyone in Colorado that has Liberty Safes in stock with any sort of "more than basic" set up? And am I buying a brand by buying Liberty? I have read a lot of good things on here about AmSec safes. What do I do?!?!

Mark delivers and installs on the Front Range.
I would sell you my liberty right now if I could get a tl15 bought off craigslist at the same time. I have the Franklin 50.

to answer your other question.

All RSC (residential security containers) are junk. Wow, they make the door hard to open. The whole rest of the safe is made of super thing sheet metal. I think anyone with a battery powered saw could be in one of these safes in 2 minutes or less. If they can plug in a grinder or die grinder they could easily break in that way too.

I have posted this before.

now if you are the gun owner who has a few guns that dont add up to much money, then its probably ok to get a RSC. But a real safe will be labeled TL15 or TL30. They are actually certified by underwriters labratories as Safes. All the rest of the things they sell homeowners are RSC.

And who makes tl15/30 safes? Are those obtainable for < $3000?

My TL-30, odd sized for a gun safe but it works, stands 48" tall, 36" wide, and 30" deep.

To give you an idea, it weighs ~3000lbs.

I gave $800 for it delivered, before the MJ sh!t show, like HBAR mentioned.

For a store bought RSC, my money would go for a Ft. Knox with some upgrades.

My parents actually bought one with the upgraded steel liner and a few other perks, and that bastard is heavy for an RSC. It came in right around 1200lbs.

Safes were made in the past to protect your goods when you can not be around. New technology allows for good protection to keep your valuables from being easily carted off and to slow down the bad guys getting into your safe. Liberty sells a monitor for the inside of your safe that will alert you to fire and movement such as someone breaking into your safe or trying to move it.

No system is 100% but we can do everything in our power to make it difficult for the bad guys.

Many only advice, order one bigger than you think you'll need. It will get full.

I just talked to Mark, He was going to delay a liberty shipment so I could get my order in. I havent seen the one i want in person so i told him to hold off but he seemed cool.

American security or brown safes are nice. I wouldn't buy a liberity safe for anything more than just keeping the guns locked from the kids, just my opinion...

+1 for Mark.

Talk to him about location options and bolts.

I have a Liberty and will probably buy another one soon.
All the points above are valid. Don't think you're buying a super secure safe - if you really need one, you'll probably know it. For most people I think they are very good.

I'm sure you know this already but there are different levels of Liberty, and a few that are identical or near identical but marketed under a similar brand name. Freedom Security is sold in stores like Murdochs, etc. but is the exact same safe (at least the FatBoy I bought was - I confirmed it with Liberty). However, they do have a lower-line that is made in China and a lot "less"...

Good to hear that Mark is selling Liberty's again I bought one from him in 2011 and he was great to deal with. I would have bought another one from him last year but stock was an issue, ended up with an AMSEC BF which is awesome.

So I got a safe I wasn't planning on but I got it for $1200 off. I found a place that quit selling safes and had a browning ar26. Not a huge fan of the "tactical" look but it was too good to pass up. It was this safe thesafetrader.com/shop/browning-specialty-gun-safes/browning-prosteel-black-label-mark-iv-tactical-us-26-gun-safe-matte-black-finish-black-chrome-hardware-with-tactical-shield-graphic-and-sg-electronic-lock/ that I got for $1800.

Safe and Warm is selling Liberty's again? Last time I talked to Mark he said Liberty had snatched away his dealership without warning or explanation. Supposedly to eliminate the competition against the big-box retailers.

I want/need a big RSC so bad I can taste it, but can't drop that many sheckles at once. I've pretty much decided on a big Ridgeline from opie011.

Yes Mark is back in the game. He told me the issue was with his local rep and that caused the bad blood. Once Liberty discovered the rep was the problem they canned him and got Mark back.

He delivered a new one for me last night.

Well this is good news! Maybe that's why Liberty wouldn't bring me on as a dealer....I mean who doesn't want someone to sell their product?

An FYI some RSC come with a UL rating and it's a VERY expensive testing and all they test is that the RSC passes a tool attack for 5min.

So this is what I ended up getting. Again I got a 33% discount... It is a little gimmickee, but it works. My wife also put a nix to storing ammo cans on top.
