I know it's the 'culture' to toy with the Queens guards, but it got me to thinking. What would happen if some A-Hole did this at Arlington?
Never happen here? Totally different attitude as far as respect to where your at? Curious what the military members of the board's thoughts are.

I would hope that person gets to know what the business end of an M14 tastes like.

Don't worry, soon there will be a petition about changing the name of Arlington to something else.

I used to be in The Old Guard at Ft Myer/Arlington. There is a protocol for disruptive behavior with stages. I honestly never it saw go past "stage 1" as I'll call it where the routine is stopped, the guard faces the offender and in a loud, authoritarian voice asks them to be "SILENT AND RESPECTFUL.....THANK YOU!!!!" The public shaming usually does the trick.

When I was an instructor at Fort Knox we had a few cycles during PLDC that was 50% or greater Old Guard Soldiers.....those guys where Squared Thee F U C K Away.
During the field portion we could just say "Here is the objective" and that's it. We would sit back and watch them make shit happen.
Much Respect to those Joes!

I got to see the queens guard in person a few times. A little kid was pushing it a bit too far. They are not required to stand without moving and will randomly switch positions. Well the kid pushed it and pushed it, that guard switched positions with his sword and missed the kid by inches. They both knew what just happened and the kid ran off to get a new pair of shorts. You can do almost anything to those guys except touch them or act aggressively. At which point, all bets are off

Current societal trends have raised a generation of pissants who think they should be able to do anything (or NOT do anything) without any negative repercussions. We are in an age of decadence and decay. Personally I'd fully support a guard laying out douchebags that do this kind of stuff but if I were still a professional officer I'd probably have to counsel the guard and placate the little toady that should have eaten the butt end of a rifle or sabre.

Man, I have zero patience for stuff like this. I like pranks and whatnot, but there are certain things you just don't do. Like mess with guards, police, etc. I'm all for a guard laying someone out who steps out of line with no repercussions to the guard....

Good On Em!

Sometimes Things have to be SAID.

I have no idea what goes through peoples' minds when they come to a place so hallowed and desecrate the one place that is dedicated to the people who fell for their way of life.

Would never happen here. When I was there visiting there were two kids making noise and their parents didn't do anything. The guard stopped his marched turned and yelled at the kids for being loud and not respectful

This is just about happened to my cousin 25 years ago. He was video taping the changing of the guard at Buckingham, and could not tell he was in the path of the guard looking through the view finder. I yelled at him, and he said "I guess I better move" while hustling out of the way. The officer in charge just says, "Quite!" as he does not break his gait a bit. We still joke about that. He was 16 at the time, and not trying to be disrespectful. He was just a little oblivious.
