I'm ashamed to say that I never knew this forum existed until yesterday.[Dunno] I've been a member over at Arfcom for a while and, looking around, I recognize quite a few of you guys (I never knew Quib was from CO). It's great that there's a local forum, I just wish I had found it sooner!
A bit about me. I'm from Buena Vista and have lived in CO for a little over 20 years (probably the only asian in the county for those 20+ years [Abused]). I spent 3 years in Westminster while earning my degree and now reside in Honolulu via the U.S. Navy. [Sail2] It's nice out here (little warm for my taste) but I always look forward to coming home.
Anyway, glad to be a member here!
welcome to the forum, and thanks for serving.

Welcome. Buena Vista, eh? I love that town and at least pass through it every chance I get (HI ROCKY and K's Dairy Delite are my favorite places to spend $$ there).
You'll have to try to schedule some leave for one of the group shoots.
Sorry about the HI thing, but paradise really can be hell.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE! How long have you been in the USN?

Yeah I really enjoyed growing up in the valley. I've always thought it funny how BV's seeming claim to fame is K's. They do have some good ice cream though! [Lick]
I'm coming up to the end of my 1st enlistment (4 years) in January. I haven't quite decided what I'll do next for sure but I'll definately take you up on the group shoot if I ever get the chance. Have you ever been to the Chafee County Shooting Range? Maybe we could all get together, have a fun day of shooting, then head to K's afterward. Guns + ice cream = win no?[LOL]

Oh, you know just how to get on my good side - two things I enjoy most in this world are guns and ice cream!

Hey GM2
Nice to see a fellow Gunner on this board. We are far and few between. I have run into a handful of Gunners since I got out in 2000.
What systems do you work on or have worked on? I was a VLS tech. I got to launch on Sudan and that was bad fucking ass.
Stay safe out there and thanks for your service [Beer]

If you decide to get out and dont mind living in Denver, email me etc and I may be able to help you get a job if you dont mind traveling. "A" school is more then you would need to do my job. We install power transformers and do some minor troublehsooting of compnents when in service xfmrs breakdown. Its hard work, but not to bad.

Hey GM2, thanks for the warm welcome! I'm actually on the VLS side of the house as well. [HiFive] Haven't had the chance to do a lot of "real world" stuff such as your Sudan experience yet, just shots for this BMD testing.
Well, shooting down the satellite early last year was awesome. Standing on the fantail watching that shot go up and then hearing all the hoots and hollars after we hit it is something I'll definately never forget. Not exactly warheads on foreheads but still a memorable moment. :D

I greatly appreciate the offer for help with locating a job and may take you up on that someday! I still have a ways to go on this current enlistment, however, as I just extended this past week. [Bang] [Tooth] Thanks again for the welcome!

Hey Guns
Shooting that satelite was something to see. I thought to myself and also to my Dad, that would be a job for the VLS techs. Glad to run into someone who did that. Thanks for your service by the way. Did you go to "A" school in Chicago? If so, was Mr Siegfried there? Mr Onstead?

I'm not sure about a Mr Siegfried but Mr Onstead rings a bell. I was there in A-school in early 2006 so my memory is a bit fuzzy. Part of the civilian instructor cadre I assume? Some of those guys have been around for quite a while and had some of the best sea stories.:D
