OK...more Tales From the Home Improvement Crypt:

We just had new carpet installed in the two bedrooms today. Looks fantastic. And, even though it was a major PITA the paint and new carpet really compliment one another.

Now for the fun part...

So, everyone knows we love our dogs. We're down to three. I'm starting a pool on who pukes on the carpet first. Winner gets a shiny new penny and the satisfaction of knowing they were right. Plus bragging rights indefinitely.

They're all really good about never going in the house so I'm not worried about that. But puke? All bets are off. And it's never on the wood or tile...always rugs or carpet. Always.

So...how long until the new carpet is christened?

I can't guess, but when it does happen, use laundry detergent mixed with hot water in the most powerful spray bottle you have. Spray it deep into the mess, then shop vac it up. Spray it all over again, let it sit a bit, then thuroughly shop vac it up. I use a touch of bleach in my solution, but I've got white carpet.

After responding to this thread, I walked into another room to find a huge clump of puked up grass in the back room that wasn't there minutes ago. I'd say it was karma except i don't think I've slighted Bailey today, or ever.

New carpets huh ? Remember all dogs need to mark their territory, and to them the new carpeting needs marking.

Odoban puts out a spray made specifically for pet problems- you can get it at Home Depot. I think it was under $5. VERY effective.

I say within a week, unless you're having company over for the 4th. Someone will ralph on the carpet if you have company on Independence Day. It's inevitable.

This, and before it all dries up, spray it down with a decent coating of Nature's Miracle and let it rest for a bit. NM breaks down the enzymes so that the smells and stains come out.

Not so much anymore- I think NM changed their formula. Back a few weeks ago, one of our older cats had a terrible case of thunderpanic. On a new mattress.

Two gallons of NM have not made much of any difference. It's lifted most of the stain, but not the odor.

baking soda & club soda pultice. Brush in to carpet let dry. Rinse & repeat.

Regarding when one of them pukes, 5 min after a realtor calls and says they have a VERY INTERESTED BUYER over in Indian Hills. Would it be possible to drop by in 1 hour.

My boy does his best to make it outside when he's going to puke... Or poop. In 3 years of his life he's pooped in the house twice. Both were my fault for being gone all damn day at work and not making it home

My little dog will piss on the carpet in just a little spot to let us know we pissed her off. And yes...puking is always on the carpet, but luckily she will dry heave for a minute or so, and I quickly grab her and get her outside at best, linoleum or hardwood at worst.
