Anybody have any recommendations for fireworks shows this weekend? I really don't like the new BS shows with choreographed music and videos, I prefer the old fashioned blanket-on-ground-in-the-park OOOOO-AAHHH kind of shows. The way they should be!

Grand Lake, but plan to stay well after Midnight waiting for traffic to clear up.

Believe it or not, Black Hawk puts on a damn good show every year. There aren't many good "throw down a blanket" spots, but if you don't mind sitting in a lawn chair on top of a parking garage, the show is very good.

Gambling isn't everyone's cup of tea, but if you dabble some, it's a good excuse to come up for a night.

How crowded does it get up that way on the fourth?

The wife and I usually eat at her parents and then as the sun goes down we head out on the motorcycles and ride around aimlessly until we find a cool place to watch fireworks. I'm guessing finding parking for two motorcycles won't be difficult?

I sit in my backyard and watch Thorntons show.
And then sit in the front yard and watch the idiot across the street try to blow himself up.

Bandimere speedway always has a good show. They have races all day and sitting almost under those fireworks is pretty cool.

Broomfield's show is very much a "throw down a blanket" type of show, and takes place right across the street from my house. We usually host a half dozen friends for a while beforehand.

I usually go up on the roof and can see several displays from there.

Littleton and Englewood put on a good show at the park on Bellview/Windmere. I'll be watching from my roof a few blocks away. The dog will be inside.

For those of you in the Springs area, here's a link to Independence weekend celebrations.

You've all heard the warnings about possible terrorist activity this weekend. I'm privy to certain information that I can not share. What I've been told I can share is this: TAKE THESE WARNINGS SERIOUSLY! There is a reason that the FBI is advising their friends & family to avoid public gatherings this weekend. If you do choose to participate in public events this weekend, stay alert & vigilant & have your friends/family do the same. If something doesn't look of feel right report it & get the hell away quickly. If you can legally CCW, do so.

I found this map online, purportedly from ISIS, showing potential targets across the nation. Note that the Denver area/North of Denver is pinned. But bear in mind that just because a community isn't pinned doesn't mean it isn't a potential target.

We must be damn near neighbors then.

We're doing a BBQ at the house for about 20, then walking over to the fireworks. Then our neighborhood gets pretty rowdy into the evening.

My friends are the ones putting on the Parker show this year - they are big time fireworks fanatics (have their own company and the like), and aren't much for the pomp and circumstance crap.

They should put on a good show.

It gets pretty crazy up here. If you come on the MCs, go up Golden Gate Canyon to skip all the traffic in Clear Creek and I-70. Both of those are jammed packed today (Friday). It'll be a parking lot tomorrow.

I went to BH's fireworks last year. I was kinda like watching snow on TV. Too much...if that is possible.

Easy out if ya know the roads.

Gonna hose down the roof when it starts getting dark tonight. Last year on the morning of the 5th. I cleaned up the residue of a dozen or so bottle rockets of varying sizes from the yard & roof.
Damn white trash in the neighborhood.

We just walk up the street with our chairs and can see Broomfield, Thornton and some of Westminster. Never disappointed!

Any suggestions for DU/downtown viewing? We're up from Durango and are staying near DU. Have no idea where to watch.

Sports Authority Field is supposed to have a huge display this year, would be north of your location.

I'm waiting for a furniture delivery right now with my M&P 9c on my hip. No intent on going to any public venues this weekend ... well, maybe a dash into Bass Pro if I can find the camp cards I'd stashed up ($10 off $50 purchase).

Same...cousin's house pretty much unobstructed w/ horse stables and open space out back. Still waiting for an ambulance for front yard crazies. Then the drive back home ...[facepalm]

We sat on the roof. There was a brief moment when I turned around just after the parachuters over the Thornton show appeared in the sky and my heart rate doubled because I couldn't make sense of what I was seeing. Then my wife remembered they do that for that show every year.

Watched the englewood Littleton show from my roof with the gf and her kid... There was a drone flying behind the house. After it got hit with some random projectile it vanished, hypothetically

There is a spot about five minutes from our house where we can sit and watch the Louisville/Superior, Broomfield, Westminster, Northglenn, and Thornton fireworks all at the same time. At a certain point, I looked back toward Thornton and told my daughter, that was the weirdest fireworks I had ever seen. They look like five parasailing flares.

For the record, Broomfield does the longest show and they had some very good exploding rings this year.

MY wife thought the strange lights in the sky looked like UFO's, she was all excited, but reminded her that our life is not that exciting and they are probably Parachutists.

We were 200-300 yards sitting on a bails of hay at Broomfield's show, my boys jump several times through out the bigger explosions. [Beer]

We decided to drive up to Thornton from DU to watch the fireworks. What freaked us out was the way the parachutists "dropped" out of the sky at about 200ft AGL. We thought the first guy's 'chute failed then realized it was supposed to happen that way. Very cool way to start the fireworks!
