Camping season and one thing I don't have is a hammock. I need one that will support my fat ass (250lbs), was looking at the doublenest hammocks due to the size and positive reviews on amazon. But before I make the purchase I figure I'd ask on here to see if there are any others i should consider.

I don't plan to sleep it in overnight (although I might), mainly just for lounging with the kids.

I have this one and it's rated at 400 pounds. http://www.rei.com/product/754769/eno-singlenest-hammock#tab-specs

I've had me 200 pounds + my two boys (50 and 65 pounds) in it at the same time and it held us just fine. They also make in a double wide version.

I like the ENO hammocks. Well made and very comfortable -- perfectly fine for sleeping in, better than any air mattress I can think of. I use a Hennessy when I'm out camping but would have no issue with using an ENO singlenest or doublenest if there weren't any bugs around.

Are you hiking it in, or unloading it from your trunk?

Those ENO Doublenests seem to always be on the "top 10" lists, and I'm sure you wouldn't go wrong grabbing one of those.
On the other hand, I hear good (good enough?) things about the Yukon hammocks that show up on woot.com all the time. They're dirt cheap. Not sure I'd want to count on one if I was hiking in 20 miles from the nearest bed, but for a weekend camping trip, where you weren't going to sleep in it, probably would be perfect. $20 for a double hammock, 300+ lbs... hard to go wrong.

treklightgear (http://www.treklightgear.com/gear.html) gets my vote. 400lb test. Single and double. They even do camo. I have two. Seth is good people.

I looked at some of the "tactical" hammocks, most were 250lb test (per their own reps).

no backpacking, just unloading from a truck and keeping it setup at basecamp to chill in.

Yet another vote for the ENO doublenest. I have a Black and Forest Green one that I use for precisely what you will be doing, but I'm under 200lbs. My wife and I have been in it at the same time, no issues. (she's ~125lbs)

I've got a Yukon Outdoors double hammock that I've used and trust. It's hard to beat for $20 when you consider the need for suspension, tarp and insulation. I'm looking at getting a couple of their mosquito hammocks for my wife and son.

Just post up a video of the first time you try to climb into and out of the hammock for the first time. And be sure to post it up in the "Funny Videos" section.

Grand Trunk makes a great hammock.  I have a couple of their double-wides rated to 400 pounds.  Olive green blends in real nice with surroundings. Note that I recommend buying their tree sling as well to minimize rope cutting into tree bark.  You can find them on Amazon.

I have a ENO DoubleNest and its damn comfy, and holds my fat ass without issue using seatbelt material polyester straps. My only complaint with it is that its not as breathable as I would like if I were to sleep in it overnight. I find myself sweating a bit in it for lack of airflow.

I was going to post cheeky picture of a banana hammock, but I figured that would be poor form on a family-friendly forum. [Coffee]

Like mine too. My wife and I sit in there together. I'm 155, she's 110.

Picked up a ENO Doublenest with ENO Atlas straps. I'll get a selfie with me naked in the hammock when i go camping.

I cant help you with a hammock, but...

If you are ever considering a nice cot, look at these
http://www.discobed.com/

I own and have owned many military cots, the wood framed ones, the aluminum framed ones and these are way better. (expensive, but great). We have 5 sets of the XL size and we use them all the time.
they are over 81 inches long and 39 inches wide. They are big and strong. I would never willingly sleep on the ground again, if I could use the cots. Since they stack we can get more in our wall tents.
Anybody sell those locally?

I'm thinking about picking up a new hammock from Dutchware. He's making a six foot wide by 11 foot long hammock rated for 350 pounds.
