Mods please move if this is not in the right place.

Looking for a gunsmith for my cousin up around the Broomfield or Erie area. He has an early 1960's lever action of some sort and it hasn't been shot since probably the late 60's. I haven't seen it but he said it has some rust and might need a new stock. I personally do not know a gunsmith and told him I would ask some members on here to get some recommendations. He basically would like to make sure he can shoot it safely and possibly clean it up a bit for his 7 year old son to shoot. If the work is going to be over $300 he is most likely just going to look at a 10/22 or bolt action 22 of some sort for that price instead.

Any recommendations or direction would be much appreciated.
Thank you.

Depending on what lever action it is, money spent on it may be far better than less money spent on something new.

In case it hasn't been mentioned, give BP Tactical a call.
Sometimes, the sentimental value outweighs the monetary value, so spending the amount you quoted is not too much, even if it is a rifle that came out of a Sears catalog.
