Did anyone else see this commercial this weekend?

Really? At a time when our Constitution is being trampled on, our history is being distorted by leftist academics and media types, and our own president denigrates and degrades the nation at every turn, Budweiser makes a commercial proclaiming Independence Day as being about the freedom to drink beer? Maybe I'm just too sensitive after 7 years of regressive Stalinists destroying the country but this commercial really pissed me off. So much so, I submitted the following to their customer relations group:

While I don't drink Budweiser very often, I have generally been a great fan of your commercials and indeed your company. Most times, the commercials are well-crafted and represent an Americanism that is sadly disappearing. This weekend, I saw one that infuriated me. It trivialized Independence Day as a reason to party, to drink beer.
I see nothing wrong with drinking beer on Independence Day, beer and barbecues have been part of the traditions celebrating the holiday for decades but they are NOT the reason for the celebration. As a veteran, as a Scoutmaster, as a student of American heritage and history, I was (and still am) deeply offended by that commercial and surprised that someone at Budweiser thought it was a good idea.
There is a big difference between good humor (like your venerated Budweiser frogs commercial) or celebration and trivializing our common heritage. That most recent commercial was the latter.

Sam Adams did a similar video.

Sad when even the American beer companies have gone self important.
It's over.

Good thing you're free to bitch above such trivial stuff. Budweiser is in business to make money. Their market is adults. If adults lose the meaning of Independence Day during the span of a beer commercial, that's not Budweiser's problem.

The Sam Adams video is more about being an independent brewery while the Bud commercial is about the real 1st amendment which allows us to drink shitty beer. Budweiser lost me with the "Whatever USA" campaign. Nothing like advertising being an aloof alcoholic to really appeal to the masses.

Guess so, they sure are not in the business of making good beer.

Looks likes the 4th is turning into another marketing gimmick to sell product.

The cold hard reality of retail is that EVERY holiday is an opportunity to sell more product, regardless of the importance of said holiday.

Basically, "Leave your morals, standards, and virtue at the door - Now is the time to make the worst decisions of your life without thinking twice!"

The cold hard reality of retail is that EVERY holiday is an opportunity to sell more product, regardless of the importance of said holiday.
Perfect example: AFW. EVERY holiday is a sale. Hell, they even MAKE UP holidays for sales! "Christmas in July", anyone?

Sad. Either way, I didn't see the commercial because I was too busy cooking burgers and blasting the Star Spangled Banner with my loudspeakers at all the mexicans that live around me. [Neene3]

I finally had time to watch each video. Can we merge this thread with the Kim Kardashian one?

It's the level of responses that concerns me. :)

Valid point, but haven't you heard? Everyone on the internet is entitled to be upset about whatever they want and the rest of the internet MUST care. Also, everything you read on the internet is true.

I just saw the Budweiser commercial playing again today, so who going to complain about it this holiday?

Just more of the [liquid] Bread & Circuses.

It also doesn't help that they make lousy beer.

I will. Their shitty beer should be exported to China and I'll only drink true American beer, also known as whiskey.

People actually buy...and then drink...Budweiser beer? Huh...

Budweiser did another tasteless commercial? Color me shocked.

Their TV commercials have sucked since the frogs. At least they had the real men of genius on the radio for a while.

I'm more upset that they're trying to muscle shelf space from craft brewers.
