View Full Version : What would you do with 2 free days in Bangkok?
Ok, looking for some real advice here…. Sure I could go all ‘The Hangover’ but I’d probably never make it back.
Due to work I have to spend a week in Bangkok. I’m flying in Sat night about 11 PM and I don’t have to be at work till Tuesday morning. What would you do with a couple fee days in Bangkok?
I travel a lot for work but my only time outside of the hotel and customer meetings is usually finding the closest McDonalds. I don’t sight see or visit historic places… unless it’s a McDonalds. :)
I did find this and it sounds pretty cool - http://www.bkkfishingguide.com/ I exchanged emails with the guide and a full day for 4 of us to go fishing for Mekong Catfish (20 – 200lbs) would be about $400 for everything.
Anyone been there and have some ideas?

DON'T SPIT ON THE SIDEWALKS, OR CHEW GUM IN PUBLIC.
If i was in to going to Thailand any of the religious shrines would be on my must see list. That and the strip clubs Ying/Yang ;)

Looks cool, I regretted not going here with my boss since I decided to work on email instead - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capela_dos_Ossos
I didn't realize Thailand had that strict of laws, I go to Singapore a couple times a year and the laws continue to surprise me.
Just remember, one night in bangkok makes a hard man humble.
There's not much between despair and ecstasy.

Go eat your heart out!!! The best food I've had is in Thailand. Not much outdoorsy or hunting stuff I know of.

I'd stay in the hotel and listen to Murry Head, or play chess.

That would be my typical international trip. :) Well maybe not chess but I keep myself busy.
Killer blow, fifteen hundred dollar hoes.

Goto the old part Banglampu and see the palace, wats( temples) and then for the 2nd day cool off with drinks on Soi Cowboy, PatPong, or NanA.

Thai women are, in my opinion, the most beautiful women in the world. But, as lex insinuated, just avoid the katoys (unless you're into that. Not that there's anything wrong with that.)
Go see the lady boy show, you will be shocked. All the "women" in the show are way hotter than the real deal

Load?? What Load?!? Classic...
I stayed at the Hotel Conrad for a while while I was teaching the RTAF how this MAFFS stuff works.
I ate like a king off the Bangkok street carts. Great food.
Bangkok sucks. It is a dirty city. Go north an hour north to Ayutthaya and soak up some history. Pattaya is a tourist trap. Chaing Mai and Chaing Ria are awesome.
The most beautiful woman in Thailand is a dude.
Best advice I can give, go to Cambodia. It is still nice. That and don't fly on any airliner based in Malaysia.

Good advice, thanks. I'd be a little scared to eat off the street carts but I may give it a try. :)
And I'm with you on the Malaysian airlines... United and ANA are the flights.
It has been years since I have been there but the "Green" temple was Amazing also the Emperors temple. I loved the street carts, don't ask what it is. If you want, it is cheap to hire a cab for the day, they will take you to ALL the "spots". Understand they get a kickback for each place that you spend a lot of dough. It can be fun, hell just the conversations are something I still talk about. Bangkok is VERY dirty. I doubt that could have changed much. This might sound weird but just talk to people. I had some of the best conversations with complete strangers. There were vietnam vets that never left, etc. I even hired a girl and instead of going the "normal" route had her be my tour guide. I saw places I guarantee no tourist ever saw. It is a great place, just be careful, they may be smal but it can still be very dangerous. If you have a good guide they will steer you clear of the bad spots.
