People are so freaking stupid. Would you "panic" if you saw this dude walk on your bus? What belt fed gun does he have stashed in his little satchel? Source

Now, it’s illegal to be a punk rocker
Belt with fake bullets leads to arrest in BostonBy Brian Maloney (http://mediaequalizer.com/author/brian-maloney) July 13th, 2015, 15:37 EDT

Luckily, he wasn’t in possession of Dukes of Hazzard toys, or one Boston-area man might really be in trouble!

What 26-year-old Kevin Young of Watertown failed to recognize is just how quickly times are changing, as it’s now no longer okay to be an ordinary punk rocker.

Not only was his “replica ammunition” belt enough to incite “panic” on a bus Friday afternoon, but police noted he was “wearing what was described as spiked fighting gloves and spiked leather bracelets,” according to the Boston Police Department’s official website (http://bpdnews.com/news/2015/7/11/fake-ammo-causes-real-panic-on-mbta-bus-in-brighton).

In other words, Young dressed like millions of guys did in 1982, but nobody ever thought to call the police on that basis alone.

According to the MBTA Transit Police (http://www.tpdnews411.com/2015/07/watertown-man-arrested-after-boarding.html), Young was arrested and taken into custody, with a charge of disorderly conduct, after he exited the bus and seen walking down a nearby road. There’s no indication he behaved in a threatening manner or said a word to anyone.

Earlier this afternoon, charges were dropped, with the Suffolk County District Attorney’s (http://www.suffolkdistrictattorney.com/) office telling (http://www.myfoxboston.com/story/29535655/charges-dropped-against-man-wearing-replica-ammunition-on-bus) local media “based on the totality of circumstances, however, including confirmation that the cartridges on said belt could not and weren’t intended to be fired, prosecutors dismissed the charges at arraignment in Brighton Municipal Court.”

So Boston PD can now be accurately referred to as the "Fashion Police"? Pretty sad indeed.

Just a sign of the kind of nonsense going on in the big cities. Best avoided...

Isn't this the same group of people that flipped out over a lightbright sign and blew up a city installed traffic counter.

Hey, just be glad he wasn't carrying a dildo....

That would probably be much more accepted (even defended by some groups)... as long as you don't beat anybody with it.

I grew up in Boston and belts and things like this were (probably still are?) very common. This is complete douce-baggery. We used to ride those busses and trains drinking 40's in brown paper bags while blasting music. We even had skateboards too. It seems like half the childhood crap I did when I was younger would get me sent to jail today.

Sad to think this was once the heart of the Revolution. How far it has fallen since then. "Boston Strong" until the Gov asks you to bend over.

This can't really surprise anybody that this has happened, it's the direction we've been heading, and they are picking up steam.

In the 80's I always thought that some people should be arrested for the way they were dressed. Finally the police show up three decades too late to do something about it. I'm thinking he was only arrested for dressing like that because everybody on the bus was appalled at the thought of 80's hair coming back.

I think there are a myriad of things we could get away with as children, that we'd be arrested for as adults. Pretty much everything that ever happened in my tree house comes to mind.

Sad day, i wonder if some of this over sensitivity has to do with the fallout of the Boston bombing deal.

This country is in sooo much trouble.

I am OK with a lot of 80's music, Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, etc.

FFS. Just what conduct were they claiming was "disorderly"? Eighties-inspired apparel is not only back, but in some circles, it never left. Spiked bracelets, belts, leather, and so on have always been a staple in the big cities- Boston included. The anit-gun movement is apparently trying to make this seem like this is a problem that just cropped up.

LOL! One of the running jokes in our band is that there wasn't any music produced in the 80's... I tend to avoid that discussion altogether.

There was a lot of crappy music produced...but the again, Queen ruled in the 80s. ;)

Which is exactly why we have to do a Queen song (Crazy Little Thing Called Love) as part of our setlist! Being a cover band has its downside...[Coffee]

OK, now back to the OP, enough thread hijacking...

Lots of folks in Boston think we still ride horses to work in Colorado. Lots of folks are actually very reasonable, although liberal they typically mind their own business. There was probably one "twat" on the bus.

I'm reminded of this: There is an asshole on every bus, I've never met him though.

Lots of folks in Boston think we still ride horses to work in Colorado.

Well, you have to have some sort of appropriate transportation when you don't have adequate roads, right?

“In Colorado, we got a law passed. The NRA went after two or three state senators in a part of Colorado where I don’t think there’s roads.” - Michael Bloomberg

Like the individual in CT that called 911 because someone was selling flags and nazi stuff at a swap meet? That person said they "got sick, almost vomited and had to run away" at the mere sight of the scary, mean'ol stuff.

Yup. Or other cases reported recently about other flags! The world has gone over the top looney-tunes.

Isn't Boston an 80's band?

I was going to call the Police to tell them how suspicious it was that such a great 80's band only put out two albums in 15 years, but Sting never returned my phone call.

What? Off topic? [gohome]

Liberal Twats at their best. If only there was a wall to keep them from migrating to Colorado.

The real concern and focus should be on those who aressted him for having plastic fake ammunition. He shouldn't have been arrested in the first place and this shouldn't even be a news story.
