Ok so what brand of trimmer is everybody using ? I currently using a lyman with the power adapter and I'm honestly not happy with the accuracy among other things. I have been eyeing the Sinclair ultimate trimmer does anybody have any feedback on this trimmer. I know it still a basic trimmer and leaves a burr but the accuracy seems awesome. I really can't afford and don't want a Giraud as it locates off the headspace and using multiply makes brass even run through the same resizing die doesn't seem to make accurate size brass.

I like the WFT but sounds like it probably won't be what you want since it trims based off of the shoulder.

Honestly I running Girauds triway and I can't get accuracy out of the out it even separating the brass after sizing into similar sized brass checking it with a headspace gauge from Wilson with calipers. I love the way it trims it chamfers the case and trims so it is ready to load afterwards

Are you trimming quantity plinking ammunition or smaller number of benchrest cases?

I have a Giraud and a power adapter for the Lee quick trim. I had one of Giraud's tri-way trimmers and all of them produced acceptable ammunition for me. If I had a Dillon 1050 or 650, I would get the 1500 trimmer on a toolhead.

I hope you find something that works for you.

WFT seems to work very well. I'm happy with it.

WFT here also but I'm gonna give the Giraud Tri Way Trimmer a try this year. I don't reload that many cases but case prep is what I hate most about reloading

With the exception of the WFT I have owned just about every power trimmer in existence. My money is on the Giraud. It is pricey but high quality usually is. I don't see a downside to indexing off the case shoulder. If your cases are properly resized you will get a consistent trim length. Second place goes to the Dillon which I think is the fastest of them all.

I also have a Giraud, nothing better IMO. If you think about it, the OAL of rifle brass isn't the critical dimension, it's the case head to the shoulder, and second the shoulder to case mouth. If the cases are resized to where the shoulder is right and they'll chamber properly, then the mouth just needs to be trimmed back enough to clear the end of the chamber and the leade. As long as your brass is resized properly first, the Giraud excels at this.

Just the way I see it, but the overall case head to mouth length isn't the most important dimension in my opinion. I'll never be able to own a rifle capable of dime-sized groups, and I'll never be able to see well enough to shoot like that either, so I sure as Hell ain't never gonna separate brass by headstamps and fret over miniscule, inconsequential manufacturing differences. If a case will resize ok and hold a primer, Ima gonna fill that sumbitch up and use it! Most likely going into long-term storage anyway.
