Although I don't agree with this, the article states that it would apply to SS beneficiaries that have a representative payee and they have mental conditions.
Title of article is misleading

Yes there is a mental health piece in there, but not all mental health conditions would cause being a danger to ones self or others. For a Person to need a Rep Payee it would mean one thing. You have a mental health or physical diagnosis or condition that would limit their ability to understand complex information.
This includes the elderly, but also includes people with development/intellectual disabilities such as; Down syndrome, Cerebral palsy, Mental Retardation, or any other diagnosis that required long term support and care.
I have a huge problem with this.
I know several people that have a development/intellectual disability diagnosis that go hunting with their family or who love to go target shooting or involved with 4H or other programs.
The whole "executive order" at this time is too vague, there is not enough info yet as to who is targeted by our useless CIC. Waiting to here what the idiot is planning then see how many rights advocacy groups step up and fight.

Not always. There are many other reasons for to have a Rep Payee. For example, there tax and financial implications that some people use to allocate funds.

Yes, but what I was talking about is from my understanding of reading the announcement, they are targeting the combo of; SS + REP PAYEE due to Long Term Care and supports needed which includes Mental Health for inhibiting guns rights, but the category is far too encompassing for my tastes, and targets those that have no problems.

As I understand this EO, simply using a representative payee is reason enough to be classified ineligible to own/possess a firearm. Millions of people, particularly our elderly, utilize a representative to assist with their financials. That also includes those whose incomes are put into trusts and payments for bills automatically made by the trust.
This is simply another backdoor step in eliminating gun rights from citizens who might stand against the tyranny to come.

And a HUGE amen to that brother!
If I've got to be susceptible to drug testing to earn my paycheck which I work very hard for, then they should have to be drug tested to receive a part of my paycheck.

Until people on welfare get weekly drug tests, F*ck you Obama. They keep trying on a state by state basis but the same old tired arguments against it keep popping up.

Yeah, it's "discrimination".
Still trying to figure out how it's discrimination for them but not for me.

This is aimed at people like my dad. Our sister handles his estate since mom handed over Power Of Attorney. She's gone and dad could care less, except he has this gun permit and will no doubt surrender his firearm [ROFL2]when told to. Still fairly sound and doesn't fall in to the guidelines in the EO. BUT................ someone else handles his financials. Could be interesting, especially since they live in NY.

OK, Ginsue... I'll take your money AND I'll take a drug test. When can I expect my first payment?

I think this is an important, common-sense measure that will greatly reduce the number of killings committed by social security recipients with guns who are currently incapable of managing their finances. It's out of control and we HAVE TO DO SOMETHING!
