View Full Version : New to this forum.
Hello. I was searching for Colorado ranges and clubs and you guys came up. I decided to register mostly for the shoots, events, and training threads. Have been reading for a few days and decided on a quick introduction. I grew up with avid outdoorsmen, started shooting at about 10 years old. Archery and clay pigeons were my favorite as a kid. Sadly, there was about a 10 year period where I didn't shoot at all but I got right back into it 5 or 6 years ago. Lately I've had a chance to wear and use some newer military night vision, play on some combat courses and dueling trees, shoot a pop-up course, enjoy some 750 and 1000 yd ranges, and I love it all. Bought my AR-15 from a builder friend and in the future (though I don't have the tools or know-how quite yet) I plan to build, or help build, a 10 and then another 15. I am female, of the lady variety. For now I'll most likely steer clear of political and "news" threads. On this forum I may not post often, I may not be quick to reply, and I may ignore personal questions. I'll shoot alone, no problem, but I like learning, asking lots of questions, and trying new things/techniques. I have friends in this state but none are into (own and shoot) guns, so I'm giving your forum a shot. I work a lot but I plan to attend some shoots (both Monday night pins and any skeet/trap opportunities sound awesome!) when I can, and look forward to meeting some of you in person, eventually.
I'm here to learn, both from the forum and the range. Thanks.

Welcome aboard!
Welcome! You are not alone (in the female, lady variety). There are a few members from the majority sex here abouts, but they tend to be more reserved than some of the general membership. [Flower]
First and foremost, this is a community. While most of the interaction takes place here online, many of us have met, traded stories, and gun accessories, ammunition, etc... Like any community, we have all types of people. We also have a few rules, but we try to use a gentle nudge rather than let the Ginsue swing the ban hammer too frequently. If you have a problem with any member, see if you can resolve it through PM. If that isn't working or you are not comfortable with that option, PM a member of the staff. They are a great group of people and they truly care about keeping this the type of place we would be happy to have friends and family take part.
Again, welcome! I hope you find time to become a part of this community.
Be safe.

Welcome, join the fray.
Since you were searching ranges/clubs, I will plug Colorado Rifle Club. Many members of this forum are members there and many of us who are not members of CRC still participate in competitions and events there.

. I am female, of the lady variety. . Thanks.
Laughed so hard my drink came out my nose.... Thanks I needed that. It is kind of unfortunate that additional explanation as to how "Exactly" you are a female is necessary these days [Cough\]Bruce Jenner[\Cough]. Welcome.

Howdy
Thanks, all, for the welcome.
fitz19d: Nope. As far as I know I don't know anyone here.
USMC88-93: Ha! Indeed.
(I'll figure out later how to 'reply with quote', etc.)

Welcome.
We've already "met", sort of, via our email exchange. If I'd known you were a lady I wouldn't have come off so grumpy. Guys tend to need the extra attitude, but not so much for the ladies. I'm glad I didn't scare you off as I'm thrilled to see more ladies joining our community.
As others have said, we're an amazing community here that is more like an extended family than just a group of strangers with a similar interest. I hope, as you become more comfortable here, that you'll jump in and participate and come to see what we mean about being family.
Like cstone said, if you need anything from the staff, just give us a shout. I think you'll find that most of our members here are friendly and very willing to share their knowledge/skills with others without making them feel degraded for asking for assistance.
Enjoy the site!
Welcome.
You should make it out to Colorado Rifle Club this Saturday for the IDPA match. You'd probably enjoy it.

Thanks. I see there's no waitlist, they host Appleseed, and not a bad drive out. I'll definitely check it out.

I don't scare easily, and I appreciate that this forum respects privacy yet checks to be sure newcomers are real people, so it's quite alright. I'll have lots of questions, so this sounds like a good group to field them.
Thanks.

Like ray says, come out to the IDPA match Saturday. Usually have a dozen or so forum members there.
