Here it is 10:40pm, I live 7 miles away from Bandimere, and it sounds like they are drag racing right outside my window. It's a little freaking late to be racing 10k horsepower jet dragsters, don't you think Bandimere?!?!? I've been up since 4am. I need some sleep. Someone tell them to shut that shit down for the night. Fuck.
That is all.
Bandimere! Mile High Nationals!
Thats Racist!

Would you rather have them racing on the street!? /s
I give your rant a 3. And they aren't jet powered, they're nitro engines. Jet drags are for exhibition only.
Mile high nationals happens once a year. It's not like you have some asshole train engineer blowing his horn at 3am at least twice a week, and your house is about 200 feet from the tracks. I counted 25 seconds he laid on it crossing a park entrance, that was closed.
2 more days and the Nationals will be over with.

I lived 100 feet off of the tracks in Boone. That was brutal 3 or 4 times a night.
It's all the pot heads moving here.
It's all the pot heads moving here.
Shouldn't you be getting some rest for tomorrow? Haha
I'm surprised they're running at night. Every time I've been there, it's been the hottest part of the day on the hottest day of the year. They also seem to drag (no pun intended) things out as long as possible, to keep the spectators there. Stopped going after a few years of that crap...[Rant1]
Rant = 2
Bandimere has been there 56 years or so....Mile High Nationals has been an event there forever.
How long have you lived out there?

Complaining about the noise of 10,000 horsepower?
Turn in your man card.
Now!
But seriously I am in the "you knew the track was there when you bought the house" camp.
Like the people that whine about air shows when they bought a house by Jeffco Airport.
It's three days out of 365. Next year go camping for the weekend.
Somebody needs a good whiff of Nitromethane....I am hoping to come home from Bandimere tomorrow sunburned, tired, eyes and nose burning, ears ringing and covered in a fine powder of rubber!
'Murica!
On a similar note, I grew up about 5 miles SW of where Englewood Speedway used to be (Federal and Oxford). Every Sunday night during the summer we could sit on our porch and hear it like we were there.
The sound would "bounce", 1/2 a mile away from the track you could barely hear it.
Sounds like your in the "sweet spot" too.
Good times.

Says the guy who may be complaining soon about having the noise from a light rail train running fifty feet from his back door.
How much horsepower does a light rail have?

You're the one crying. You go tell them. Maybe your parents can do it for you.
Once Hollohas gets some sleep I'm sure it will no longer be an issue.

All fair responses. Weak rant for sure. After a long day, I was just surprised about how late they were running. I'll clip a corner off my man card, but won't be turning it in BP.

Says "jet drags" 9:15pm.

The atmosphere must have been just right last night because we were in the sweet spot. It's never been that loud at our place before.
For those saying "don't like it move"? Chill. It was a weak rant amongst friends after a long day. It's not like I started a petition to get the raceway closed or called in a noise complaint to the city.
I believe rain was the culprit. It delayed things for a bit pushing it later than usual.
Lots of records being set this weekend...

I'll swap you the 2-3 hrs of dragsters for our neighbor who thinks it's ok to leave a barking dog tied up outside all night. Make maters worse, she chained it to a tree, so............. once the dog runs around 3 - 4 times it's not choking itself and unable to move. BUT.......WE'RE THE BAD NEIGHBORS for being concerned about the animals welfare

That's ridiculous. I have never understood people who allow their dogs to bark outside non-stop. And people who chain dogs to trees all night need to be chained to trees themselves.

Bolt cutters to the chain or chainsaw to the tree??? Choices, choices. Just make sure the dog gets some raw meat for the inconvenience [Coffee]

Even after numerous attempts to talk to the owner, that having to take car of your pet is for some reason unknown to her.

I will not allow the spouse to take a trespass charge due to someone else ignorance. They've already been given a warning from AC.
anyway back on Topic.
Wear ear plugs till sunday night
Don't feel bad I don't care for it much either, but it is only 2 weekends out of the year
Figures. I'm out of town and I gave my two tickets for Friday away that they break 200mph in Pro Stock. That's the only Class I have any interest in watching now.

I think this is the most important part here. Can't guys complain about stupid sh!t to their friends every once in a while?
sheesh... It WAS a weak rant, but that's okay. Everyone's gotta let off a little steam once in a while, especially when they're exhausted and need sleep!

It's just a modest proposal but we all know that Irish children when fattened properly and cooked well can be very tasty. [panic]
This is one of the very few weekends that Bandimere is willing to break the "quiet hours" restrictions placed on them by the neighbouring communities.....big event, big money, and a pain to reschedule

Just a quick step off topic - We had a similar problem. Got the owner's phone number and called them whenever the dog was barking and asked if we should notify the police that someone must be breaking into their house. They actually got a bark collar and trained the dog not to bark within a week. When they left the house, the dog stayed inside and didn't bark.
Maybe the only neighbor in the State that actually listened and acted.

It seems for them the dog isn't a pet but a status symbol. Look we own a purebred XXX . Don't walk it, water it, hell until we had AC over they just ignored any suggestions we had.
Now take in to consideration, their males (dad & son) managed to get out of the yard on a daily basis. The spouse went over and told the owner. My old man said this is it. No more bringing your dogs home. He said i have to call AC from now on. Week later they got rid of them. Yeppers real pet lovers
DAMN.....WAS THAT THE JETSTERS RUNNING. Heard that from here ;)
Preach it, hollohas! I understand. Every year, as Independence Day nears, the idiots in our neighborhood start celebrating with fireworks days before and after the date. Never mind that we also have many Vets with PTSD on our street, and that everyone's pets are frightened to death.
I find that as I'm getting older, I'm morphing into the Crazy Neighbor that uses the water hose at the slightest provocation. I'm growing more sensitive to offensive racket- unnecessarily loud and obnoxious music from vehicles driving down the road at 2 am, LOUD fireworks set off at the crossroads at 12 am, useless packs of teenagers standing at the corner and loitering and goofing off at the top of their lungs at 11 pm. Grrr. It's worse when you have to get up early the following morning, and/or didn't get a good night's sleep.
There are still fireworks going off every night in our neighborhood. I just assume that everyone is extremelly patriotic around here.

"Fireworks" ...riiiiight.
I am of the opposite belief; I get really upset about suburbia encroaching on the race tracks (or shooting areas) and then the residents getting pissed about the noise. I am still upset about Rocky Mountain National Speedway closing; I loved running my inexpensive dirt track car there. Bandimere has been there since 1958, and I hope it stays for another 57 years; if the race track is a problem, then pick a different part of town. If you live in West Littleton or Lakewood, you are going to hear it from time to time during the summer.
When I lived in the Black Hills, I'd pray that I'd be out on a drilling rig for the first half of August so I could avoid the Sturgis Rally for the simple fact that I hate hearing the weekend warriors, who trailered everything in, roddin' the sh*t out of their bikes at all hours. I did enjoy the concerts and scenery that were brought in though.

Only twice a week? Lucky you!
Ok... At least twice a week. That was when I lived in Windsor. Probably the same person rolling through FoCo. I don't miss the Riverside and Lemay intersection. In Cheyenne we have silent crossings. It's really nice to not hear them that much anymore. And the really busy streets have the trains go over or under the roadway.

When I was in Westminster I was a block and a half from the nice active freight line AND a fire station. It was interesting to try to sleep to say the least.

You should hear my dog fart.
I used to love being able to hear the drag cars. Helped me sleep!
