Looks good. What are planning for barrel and hand gaurds?
Looking at getting a DD barrel. And an earth tone hand guard 15" w/ key mode. And a vortex scope. It will set up for 5.56.
I can't wait. Dropped of my ar to have the barrel nut tightened and a once over to make sure all the parts function right. have to wait till Monday at the latest
This the one you've posted earlier about in August?
You're two steps ahead of me (gas tube and block); I am accumulating cash, as well. Can't wait to see it finished.

Daniel Defense barrel for sure. Very consistent quality all-around... although both of mine (16" middy and 14.5" carbine) seem a bit over-gassed.
Your farther than I am , almost there
Don't rush it, you'll end up with what you want in the end...buy once cry once.
The build is finally done. I will post pics soon
I just cam across the other post. Same ar. Pics soon
Next build will be chambered for 300 blackout. I have most of the lower built minus the butt stock. May have to change out the buffer tube. Not sure yet. Have done a lot of research to see.
It will be my stormtrooper rifle

That's awesome, where do you go for range time? Just took my full build out to Pawnee today and had a blast. I never run out of ammo but today, definitely did. Luckily had my 22 AR and my 9mm ar to keep going.
I go to centennial gun club
I need to invest in some ammo.

Magpul doesn't have a lower parts kit. Did you mean PSA Magpul lower build kit that has a psa lpk?
not trying to be an ass, I'm setting up a build list and shopping around currently.
That might be the one it cost around $64.00. It's in a tan box. I got mine from centennial but bowers sales the same one

CMMG lpk comes in a tan box with CMMG and a black rifle on the box. It's good lpk.

Why a forward grip?
It was a few months in the making. Just need a bipod or handstop.

FIFY.
IMHO, a vertical grip will make you less accurate. I do use a stubby MVG/RVG as a handstop on a couple rigs. Had them before they started making the AFG2. Really depends on what your use is for the rifle. If it's not a precision rig, you may want to consider a VFG/bipod combo, use the VFG as a handstop or deploy the bipod for bench shooting. My AR's with VFG/handstop that get used on the bench get a bag rest if needed.
Cmmg was the parts lpk I used. Thanks. As far as vertical grip goes it's just a thought haven't really put any true thought on one. I do want a bipod for sure. Once I got may ar functioning I just want to keep adding to it and build more. I may just leave it as is. Not really sure at this point in time. I do need more ammo for sure. Thanks for the input though on forward grips. Of course I'll post pics if I change my current setup

Just added a bipod to my AR. Pics to follow. I'm putting the 300 blackout build on hold until I get all the paperwork filled and get the approval from the ATF to build a sbr. Gives me time to save some cash and pay of some Christmas and travel bills

I felt stupid today. I took my new AR to the range. Thought I had it sighted in. Set it on its side to get some water. Came back went to shoot it again and thought I saw the scope move. Sure enough dumb ass here forgot that I had only hand tightened the scope mount on and now I have to re zero the rifle. I felt pretty stupid. But it's an excuse to go shoot tomorrow morning

Any thoughts on barrel length for doing an upper in 300 blackout. I was thinking about 8 inch or even 10.5 inch.

Do you reload? If not, 300 Whisper is an expensive caliber.
I thought you were going to build a long range rifle in 308 Lapua?
I'm planning on doing both. Just gathering some info while I desiderate which to do first. I don't do reload. I just want a 300 blackout ar and a long rifle. I just happen to have a 99% completed lower that would work with the 300. I don't have anything yet for my long rifle

You should start, sooner then later. Either caliber will bleed you dry if you do lots of shooting.

Don't plan on doing lots of shooting with these. Just the very occasional shooting. Get them sighted in and then once or twice a month.

Especially that 308 lapua.

So you don't plan on being proficient with your rig ... Awesome , I feel safer already.

I hear it's the new 6.5 , everyone's doing it
I plan on being proficient with all my guns. I just don't need to be at the range every other day.

I feal like I'm not going to hear the end of my misquote on the 308.

I'm happy if I can afford to go very other week and spend an hour or so not just taking my time to aim and shot slowly but also doing other drills to work on being proficient and even that that can get expensive depending on what gun I use

Just an fyi. I am one of the safest gun people you will ever meet. But I do get your meaning. Just don't have the time or money to spend as much time as I would like at the range so I make each trip count not to worry

Probably not things tend to hang around for a while. The reason I bring it up is Long range takes a lot of practice , I practice a lot and I still suck.

I totally understand the need to practice long range. Someday hopefully soon I will have built my long rifle as well as my 300 blk and have time and money for both ammo and range time. Until then I just buy one box of ammo every pay day to help stock up along with my normal ammo I buy
What they are saying, is that you are essentially planning to build a race car, but hardly ever take it to the track.

That about sums it up. I just want a long riffle to play with occasionally and the 300blk would be for home defense. I'm not looking to do any competition shooting with the long rifle. I just have always wanted one so I could slowly over time learn the art of long distance shooting. and I just like building firearms when I have the extra money and time. And who knows there may come a time when having these rifles comes in handy and if not its still fun to shoot them from time to time. Its the only real hobby I have and not a cheap one at that. I just what to have deferent options to play and practice with when I do go to the range. If that means I'm slightly foolish than so be it. But I cant help the fact that I love guns and have enjoyed all the ones I have built/worked on up to this point. But I do appreciate all the help and feed back I get from you guys.
You never have to justify liking/building guns.

Just buy a 20" bbl or complete upper for your AR. Then get in to reloading tailoring your loads to the bbl. I'm wanting another 30 cal. To the point i have to stop myself from impulse buying every other day.
What i did to slow dem evil urges of gun buying . Built a 20" 1:8 and proceeding to practice my "skills" or lack of improving my marksmanship. By the time i atually get a 30 cal. I should have enough practice to avoid looking like a complete novice.

The best part of avoiding competitions is that you never know how good you are. Another plus is you never learn how good you can get.

You actually got me thinking, Damn you for that my head hurts now [emoji16] . But I just may have to get involved in some shooting cometitions. Who knows I might actually have fun and meet some fun people as well
