I'm new to the AR-15 Shooters Club and need to go to a Club Shoot. Do you have them both North and South on these dates 8-8-09, 9-12-09, 10-10-09? Which of them are the South Shoots?

I would also like to attend but there seems to be very little information about it.

I think the information needs to be a little more clear. I know we would like to keep in the family so to speak, but the locations and dates confuse the hell out'a me.

I would love to attend once in a while if I could decipher the code [ROFL1]

There is a sticky at the top of the forum with most of the info in it.. I personally haven't been to the north site in over two years.. Seems that My foot just prefers to just pull up, unload and start shooting. Rather than hauling stuff up the hill. So, whomever is going up that way needs to coordinate amongst Yourselves as to what goes up there..

As far as the south goes,, Give Steve (roman gnome) a shout and He can meet you at the WP McD's about 9:30 or so.. If you wish to for go that part, and are comming from the north. Make your way to Deckers, and head south on 67.. Look for mile marker 89. There is a stop sign on the west side of the road, it's the only one between Buffalo Creek and WP.

Head back on the trail about 800 yrds and there is a clearing. That is where we are at most of the time.

For the most part We start around 10. But if You show up late no biggie..

I wish I could make this shoot. I'd like to meet more people of the board, but I have other commitments that were made a long time ago.

I hope to make the Sept shoot. Better weather and temps :D

Yeah, I missed going to my first one on Saturday. I had hoped to meet some new folks but I will get there next time.

Today, Monday, I took my four kids out to the south site. We had never been there before. We took the berm farthest in and there were a couple of ol' guys on the other. I was glad to see it was pretty clean. The five of us picked up a trash bag of stuff consisting mostly of wads. Only a little refuse like shot up plastic jugs and cardboard. I managed to scrap enough brass to pay for the gas out there and a little reloadable brass and some lead to boot.

I walked off the distance at 80 paces. Anyone ever measure or laser range the distance? My front end is pretty iffy so I didn't venture farther up the road...is there a longer range berm farther in?

When we left Saturday the range you were at was clean, Just goes to show people trash the place in a day. We hauled out a microwave, Television parts, pieces of a car batttery and a bunch of other junk. Hopefully with the closure of Rampart Range folks dont decide to dump there trash at this location.

With that said I had a blast on Saturday and cant wait until next month[AR15]

What exactly are the facilities of the south shooting site? I have never been there (I climbed Mt Harvard last weekend with some buddies instead of going shooting with ya'll). I should have my new 6.8x43mm AR15 completed by the end of August and I would like somewhere (relatively) quiet to break the barrel. Would someone be willing to show me to the South site sometime in the next month or two on a weekend?

Thanks! Can't wait to have my AR done... I've been working on it since last January!

Dirt berm (x2). That is it.

There is level ground to shoot prone, sitting, kneeling, offhand. Bring a chair and a bench if you need one. There is no covering or shade or porta potties [Tooth].

somewhere on here are the gps coordinates and a link to google maps. It even has google street view so you can "see" what it looks like going down the roads before you actually drive there.

It is easy to find. Just keep it cleeeeeaaaann. :)

I am going to try to sneek out there on this Sunday (maybe) for an hour or so. Email me if that works for you.

Sorry longhunter... My weekends are pretty tied down until mid September... Things just keep showing up in my schedule! I'll never be able to shoot my new AR... [BooHoo]

I appreciate the offer though and I will keep you in mind in the future. Thanks! [Beer]

Questions
Can I make it to the south shoot in a car or do I need a truck?

Corey
08-22-2009, 16:53
You can get there in a car but you may have to walk 100 yards or so to get to the site. There is only one little hill I remember but the road was rutted up a bit.

MichiganMilitia
08-23-2009, 15:57
Is the "rutted" road do-able with a jeep or pickup?
