When I read it I thought it sounded like the suspect was dead when the cops arrived. Did someone with a CCW get them or what?

Unclear at this time, sounds like it was the police who got him. "Killed after shooting at police"

So was the only shooting being done, coming from the police? Hard to tell from the mumbo jumbo in the link.

IMO SBC. The hardest part of the story. PEOPLE RAN TO SOME COPS who were on scene @ an accident outside the theater. I know America lost it's backbone some time ago. HOWEVER Not 1 person stood up. Then again with the theater fogged in mace, probably hard top get a "justifiable shot" off

WHICH VEERS ME SLIGHTLY OT.

A friend commented about this latest shooting CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS SHIT? UM Yeah we can. IF ANYONE TRULY BELIEVES They are safe ANYWHERE , they're delusional / living in Candy Land..
IT CAN HAPPEN HERE. Don't give a damn How safe one "thinks" their neighborhood is, OR Why "they" feel a movie theater , school, shopping mall or church is a Safe Haven .
Nothing is Safe. However How one goes about their daily routine can and just possibly save their or someone else life.

I'm actually in Nashville right now. Didn't bring my CCW cause it's a short trip so I didn't check a bag.

Not gonna happen again.

Airsoft gun. This had all the signs of suicide by cop.

Just to recap:

No "real" gun was used by the guy
he did use pepper spray
injured a person with a hatchet
yet the media is still calling it a theater shooting and he was a "gunman"

The media has bought into this whole "Shooter" and "Gunman" terminology now. It is too late. The whole country now associates these terms with a mad man on the loose shooting people at random. I noticed with those kids that killed the family with knives in OK last week, they were called attackers. Was wondering why the media didn't refer to them as "Knifers" or "Knifemen". Today just proves it that the definition of shooter and gunman is solidified. When I go to the range, I am an active shooter, or gunman. 99.9999999% of the shooters or gunman today were shooting at targets in a safe and controlled environment yet this 0.0000001% of people is what defines the words.

Would be nice to see that sack of shit that killed the 12 folks at the movie theater be referred to as a murderer or a killer during his trial, but they keep referring to him as a shooter. When did being called a shooter become worse than being called a murderer?

Thankfully there wasn't a school near by. Or we'd be overwhelmed with ANOTHER SCHOOL SHOOTING hysteria.

Suspect in latest theater attack had psychological issues (http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/suspect-in-latest-theater-attack-had-psychological-issues/ar-BBlqHkf)

Aaron said police had not uncovered a motive, but he said Montano had been committed for psychiatric treatment at least four times, twice in 2004 and twice in 2007. It wasn't immediately clear why he had been committed or if that commitment was involuntary.

"This individual has had significant psychiatric or psychological issues," Aaron said.

The news release said Montano had been committed at least three times while living in Murfreesboro, Tennessee; that he was reported to have lived in a number of states over the years, including Missouri, Texas, Alabama, Illinois, and Florida; and that he was most recently believed to be homeless.

Aaron also noted that Montano had been arrested in Murfreesboro in 2004 for assault and resisting arrest, and said he was reported as a missing person to the Murfreesboro police department on Monday.

As more details of the attack and Montano's troubled past emerged, it began to appear less likely that he intended to inflict mass casualties such as those attempted by a theater shooter recently in Louisiana and carried out two years ago by a shooter in Colorado.
When you keep your criminals and crazy people in amongst the law abiding citizenry, bad things will happen.

The acting dept. may also want to get in a bit more practice at the range. 10 officers, including 4 SWAT team members, finally took down this 'active shooter' in 3 different shooting encounters according to the article.

Such attacks have become all too common, said Metro Nashville Police Chief Steve Anderson.

"To the general public, anywhere we gather there is likely to be an incident," Anderson said. "Obviously, in this day and time we need to be mindful of our circumstances, mindful of our surroundings. But this is maybe what we call the new normal. We can't just shut down America, we can't say we're not going to theaters, we can't say we're not going to church. We carry on. But we need to be mindful of our surroundings as we do that."
Some good common sense there.
