The jury wanted to view the crime scene video one more time this morning, defense objected-judge over ruled. Verdict to be read at 5p. Fingers crossed for the death penalty even though it'll be years before it would be carried out (unless Chickenlooper gets involved again).

Actually I hope he gets the death penalty and then Chickenlooper does what he has done and it ends up burning the Dems in the next election. Wresting control of the state from the D's would be worth not putting this nutter down.

There's no way in hell Chickenlooper will still be the gov in 20 years when they finally decide to fry this piece of crap.

He doesn't have to wait until the last minute to commute the decision. He could do it tomorrow if he wanted to.

Life without parole, in Gen. pop. Not segregation would be more fitting. His candy ass wouldn't survive 5 years.

What universe do you live in ? [Tooth][Tooth]

Everything is relative. Strapping this douche to a Sidewinder missile and launching him into an ISIL training camp would be cheap compared to keeping his ass in protective isolation in a maximum security prison for the next 60 years.

$15 credit at the commissary, or same amount in phone privileges would fix that.

I would be pissed if I did not think that Death sentence meant the exact same future for this piece of crap.

I think that is why I'm not entirely unhappy with this verdict.

What does a person need to do to deserve the max punishment? Confused in Arvada.

Apparently a person needs to kill alot more people with alot more planning and malice.

This case sets a precedence for every nut who ever thought about mass murder. If the nutters commit their crimes in Aurora they'll get life in prison, if they are acclimated to prison already it'll be win-win for them.

This case was the biggest waste of time and money. George Brauchler should be ashamed for not taking the original plea. We don't fucking execute anyone in Colorado anyway.

It seems the jurors (just couldn't live with themselves) if they did the right thing. I watched the green mile, I'm sensitive. This sentence bothers me deeply about the character of the jury (society at large).

My opinion on this verdict is changing. The more I think about what that POS did during the attack and the rigging of his apartment the more disappointed I am with those juror(s) who couldn't be bothered with delivering what that POS so richly deserved.

I gotta admit that I am disappointed at the verdict. On the other hand, I side with those who say that life costs less than the chamber. Back in the day, (way, way, way back), when people committed crimes against society so heinous they broke all the conventions of the culture, it was decided the accused should be judged by the gods rather than man. They were exiled to live and presumably die, like animals. Alone and unbereaved, with only the gods and the accused as witnesses. As far as getting what Dahmer got? I don't think this former PhD candidate will be judged favorably by the gods.

Weenies are soft, little things you impale and roast over a fire. Dicks are not.

I expect Hickenlooper to respect the jury system and to allow their verdicts to be carried out. Based on that, I have to respect this jury's decision. I sure as hell do disagree with it and cannot see how they came to it. I know from personal experience what the families are going thru, but at the end of the day just have to accept it. I only hope that he lives a very long life. Filled with pain, loneliness, agony, regrets.....and wanting every day for it to end, but not having the courage to end it. Day after day after day.....

It has to be read for the Record. if not there's (IIRC) potential for defense to complain about something.

Juror #17 confirmed on Chuck and Julie's show that one female juror in spite of overwhelming evidence would not budge from life in prison.

Doc45

Without going into detail let me say I'm very close to this case-from within 10 minutes of it happening until yesterday. The population of Arapahoe County has changed greatly in the 30 years I've lived here. It's gone from being one of the most conservative counties in the state to one definitely more liberal. I do not fault Brauchler at all for his going for the death penalty-it wasn't his decision alone-though he's where the buck stops-nor was it taken lightly, I think we all can understand that.

While disappointed in the outcome I do not fault the jury. Again looking at the population and the process in picking the jury when the time came I had hoped they'd be able to come to unanimous decision but I guess waking today I'm not surprised. The frustration we share here on this forum and decision that would've been rendered had we been the jury has become, I'm afraid, not the prevailing philosophy in this county.

Had the crime taken place on the north side of Colfax, hence in Adams County, I wonder if the verdict would've been different. I look at the number 12 and see an interesting paradox-12 fatalities and 12 jurors. Obviously almost 100 others injured as well as the families/friends of the victims and the impact this horrendous act had on the responders, care providers, well this list is very long.

I appreciate what the jurors went through and I'm thankful they didn't allow the defense to use the insanity angle. The fact that this did go through the trial the answers to many questions were provided, something that wouldn't have happened in a plea. I fully support George Brauchler and the staff of his office.

We don't always agree on everything-that's human nature-but obviously we all agree that our community is better that this piece of shit will never walk any streets again. I may have oversimplified my thoughts here, not much sleep last night but I wanted to address this topic one final time. I'll leave this thread, probably won't look at it again-at least for awhile-but I also appreciate all the comments here.

Please don't forget all those impacted by this crime and keep the victims in your thoughts.

Like most, I'm disappointed. And I'm wondering how many more lives will be lost because of the hold-out's activism as copy cats see Holmes' fate/notoriety. That is why I just can't respect the hold-out. It's putting emotion over what is necessary. Sometimes doing the right thing is hard, unpopular, and hurts the feels. But not doing the right thing is worse.

Recent death sentences have been carried out in other states/cases for murdering just one person. We now have two cases of pure evil in CO (Dunlap, Holmes) and are unwilling/unable to create adequate disincentives. There are no shades of gray in these cases--they deliberately tried to murder as many innocent people as possible without a shred of doubt. And people still can't figure this out?!?!?!!!

Oh, and guns rights... Well if we can't appropriately punish the evil bastards and send a message then we have to ban guns and everything else because we can't assign responsibility to someone who is "insane" or "grew up in a bad home."
