The "Company" is sending me to Durango in Sept. And I was wondering if there is anything to do in Durango, besides the obvious ( ogle the college girls and drink at the bars ) ?
The bars are out, I haven't touched the demon rum in over 12 years. And ogling the girls is out, I'm an Old Fart and the girls take offense when I do.

Is there anywhere around there to shoot some handguns outdoors ? Or any indoor ranges ? If there is, I can at least take a couple of guns and some ammo to pass the time rather than sitting in a hotel room during the late afternoons and evenings logged on to this forum.

Any members in Durango ?

Spyder used to live there. May want to shoot him a PM to see what info he can give you.

You could go check out the river that the EPA royally polluted: http://reason.com/blog/2015/08/07/environmental-protection-agency-dumps-a

great restaurants there. nice places to hike. of course, mesa verde is about an hour away. if you play golf, dalton ranch is a nice course. if you have several hours to kill, the train is enjoyable--you can ride the train up, and take the bus back from silverton.

There are at least 2 shooting ranges there...the indoor range I hear is pretty odd...it is caliber of the hour. So if it is say 10am to 11am then it might be 9mm hour...that is the only caliber you can shoot. Then 11 to 12 might be .45... .22 might be from 12 to 1

SSB, shoot me a PM with your timeframe. Maybe we can meet up and I can take you as a guest to the indoor or outdoor range. Also, I'm sure there's something here that you could do (although checking out the good looking women is a worthwhile endeavor here).

I was going to say, take the train to Silverton, buy your significant other some jewelry and ride the train back.

Waitaminnit, first, why is ogling the college girls out? As long as it's look-no-touch ... Second, if you have college girls to ogle, why do you need anything more to do?

If I may suggest, take the BUS to Silverton and the train back (at least when I rode it last there were three train options, 1) train both ways, 2) train up, bus back or 3) bus up, train back). Unless you're a real train buff, there's a magnitude less soot to breathe taking the train back (downhill, less burning fuel) than up.

Sounds like someone wants your brass, and doesn't want to have to sort it.

That was the only reason I could see for doing this...
