I have read the e-brochure... Am I correct in that AR .223 is ok with no mag capacity restrictions? SBR/Pistol ok?

Also interested as I am considering trying to bag one with a 9mm.

"Rifle" - means a firearm fired from the shoulder, with a rifled bore, having a barrel length of sixteen (16) inches or more and a minimum overall length of twenty-six (26) inches. (taken from the general provisions definitions) So I read that as no SBR's.

.223 would meet the requirements for energy rating on turkey, so its ok. I have never seen anything that restricts the magazine capacity for rifles or handguns while hunting small game and turkey.

I will be out there chasing turkey with my bow as I got a deer archery tag this year. Good luck this season

Rifle or pistol?

Would have to check but am doubtful 9mm pistol would meet energy requirement.

Turkey with a bow is the pinnacle IMO.

I was thinking pistol, but just because I don't know. I need to read the regs again. Primarily going to be hunting elk and deer, so I don't think I'll bring a whole different long gun for turkey "just in case." I might actually just bring the gun and if there is some miracle where I were able to fill both elk and deer tags early (haha, not counting on it) then I could spend time looking for birds.

In close with good shot placement the 9 would get the job done, but...

I figure inside 30 yards I'd be able to take one, but I don't want to do anything against the hunting regs. I've got 29 days to figure it out. :D

From this year's brochure:

4. RIFLES AND HANDGUNS:a. SPRING SEASON: Rifles and handgunsare illegal.b. FALL AND LATE SEASONS ONLY:Except in units 91, 92, 96 & 951, riflesand handguns can be muzzleloading, centerfire or rimfire, and bullets must bea minimum 38 grains with manufacturer’senergy rating of at least 110 foot-poundsat 100 yards from muzzle.

From quick search on 9mm energy at 100 yards:

Should be good to go with a 9mm.

Thank you, I was looking for a chart and never found one.
