View Full Version : Waiting For My Best Bud To Pass
Sitting here with my 16yo Aussie in my lap. Been waiting for this time for several months. Still doesn't make it any easier.
Going to be a long night.

For what it's worth, my thoughts are with you and your cherished friend.
I can't even imagine what that feels like. I will someday though. I have two, and they bring so much joy.

Sorry to hear this. It is never easy.
Condolences. Makes my heart heavy.
Well, right now is the time to think of all the fun times that you'll always want to remember. 16 years is a long time.
I'm so sorry you're going through this. I went through it with my 20-year-old cat two years ago, and it was agony.

Tough time Pook, I was devastated when I had to put my beloved Huey down a couple of years ago.
These Knuckleheads on this board helped me through it immensely and as Fentonite said, he will have some good company until you meet again.
My hearts out to you.
Sorry to hear it. Those critters really do touch our hearts and they're just not around as long as we'd like them to be.

So tough to hear. Animals are some of our very best companions in life and we develop strong bonds and friendships with them. Hang in there and remember the good times.
Sorry to hear. Been there. It sucks.
Remember the good times, 16 years I'm sure you had a lot of them.

Sorry for you loss. Been there, more times than I wished for....I feel your pain bud.
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I really wish you guys would not let that rainbow bridge story, it kills me. I've been down that road a dozen times, it never gets easier. But the pain passes, you find a new best buddy and do it all over. Sorry for your pain though.
While I question why I voluntarily go down this road, I will no doubt do it again. Lost the last one in September, current one is 13.5, I have had the opportunity to meet the OP's pooch on several occasions. This isn't fun, not even a little. Very sorry to hear about this one.
^^^You guys are the best!
I thought last night was it. Better today. Eats a little and is raising his head. Not in pain but not lasting much longer.
Be with him till he goes....never let them go alone, they deserve that
Sorry bud.............
Give him a hug from me

Sorry to hear this man.
I hate hearing things like this. I wish pets could live just as long as us. They mean and bring so much to us. V

Wait until you're 30 and buy a parrot or a tortise.
Glad to hear he's doing better.
Put him down this morning.
