Great indoor shooting range.
They now have 2 locations.
The new one has 100 yd rifle lanes.
And they just added new levels of memberships with more affordable prices.
I really don't like dealing with the few un-safe shooters at some of the other ranges.
I like being a member at a place where people take care of the range and I feel safe.
Some of the prices can be high at times but I hear they are working on better discount for members as more of an incentive.

I'm a member as well. Hope they can work on the gun/accessory prices. Pretty sad when as a paying member I have to shop elsewhere because of the high prices. I'm sure they are feeling the heat of the new Magnum shooting center.
I've been contemplating selling my membership honestly. Nice place but I just hate shooting indoors. Booths are so small, Feel like I am shooting in a tunnel. That and I can't shoot any 7.63x39 because all the surplus stuff is "magnetic". Plus I loose all my brass so can't save it for reloading.

I haven't used the range as much this summer cause it is fun shooting outdoors but you really can't beat a quick trip to the range for some trigger therapy. Members can reserve a lane and get right in to shoot. Are all the prices the best? No but they do have some deals and sales from time to time...ammo seems to be in par with stores and I have noticed they are carrying alien gear holsters at the east club.

I made the mistake of buying a membership a few years ago (pre-Cheyenne Mtn, Magnum) because they were pretty much the only game in town. There was a bit of an arrogant atmosphere about the place. That plus the extortionary prices for everything from membership to ammo caused me to happily lapse my membership. I won't re-visit them now that they have competition. YMMV

Hey Brian, sorry you did not have a good experience at Whistling Pines. We have made some staff changes since you left.

If anyone has any questions/comments/concerns feel free to get in touch with Richard or myself.

Ok, I should start with the disclaimer in case it's grounds for the post to be whacked. And if it is, whack it, I won't complain.

I've been a member of WP since before they opened (2006?). In addition to being a member, as of about a year ago, I'm also a one-day-a-week employee (pays for ammo :)), which I guess makes me evyl.

I like the club and the members. I wouldn't be working there if I didn't.

I'd be posting the following information even if I was only a member. That said...

Whistling Pines is running a killer special through January 5th: The normal $195 basic membership initiation fee will be waived if you're a current member of ANY other shooting range, be it Ben Lomond, Pikes Peak Gun Club/Izaak Walton, Frontier Sportsman, etc. Bring proof of membership.

If you're not a member of another club, the $195 is currently $95.

After that it's $32.50 a month for an individual (or $357.50 a year - pay for 11 months and get the 12th free if you pay for the entire year).

Yhea, it's not as cheap as the outdoor clubs, but I'm a member of Frontier AND Whistling Pines, and I still get to shoot when there's horizontal snow!

Ps. I work every Sunday 9-6 at Whistling Pines East in case anyone wants to stop in and say hi!

If say a member were to stop by on a random Sunday afternoon, is there a secret handshake?

I guess as a hint I have more hair than the guy I usually work with. :)

Friday nights are the BEST at the East location.
Not usually crowded and you get treated like royalty !
Good group of guys/gals that work there.
No experience with the other location.

As of January 1st, Whistling Pines has been bought by Douglas County Firearms (DCF guns) of Castle Rock.

As a member since before the Whistling Pines opened and a [very] part time employee, I think that this is a very, very, good thing. I see nothing but positives from the acquisition.

DCF will be able to bring the club to a whole new level, IMHO.

I'm not privy to the timeline of changes, but I don't expect anything drastic, except for an improvement of services and stock.

...and that's everything I know. So I doubt I'll be able to answer any questions.
