View Full Version : Boulder burglaries
Not sure if this is a repeat but if it is, I'm sure the repost police will take great pride in giddily saying so:

One of my neighbors (two doors down) has been hit twice, and apparently this guy has hit 20 houses west of Broadway since May. Goes without saying, but leaving windows open to let the cool evening air in is a bad idea if you aren't sitting next to that open window.

Even in Boulder, some folks have guns and the will to use them. He may not be afraid of confrontation...but sometimes that's a dangerous attitude to have.
Interesting. I hadn't read that.
By the way, that thermarest of yours got good use this month. I spent a 2-week vacation ripping around the Indian Peaks Wilderness Area, and tagged all 5 of the Continental Divide passes there (Pawnee, Buchanan, Arapahoe, Devils Thumb, and Rollins). A great, exhilarating time and some wild winds at a couple tops. Plus some day-trippin' to RMNP and scrambling around Dinosaur Mt locally to fill in.

I'm envious! :)
$10-15k in jewelry?!? A $200 safe would have fixed that problem. Anybody looking at local kids?

Where did you get your wilderness camping permits from?

The Boulder Forest Service office just north of Jay on 36. I dealt with one woman ranger throughout, and she was awesome. Definitely knew the backcountry, and suggested a couple camping spots we wouldn't have considered otherwise. $5 a permit; best deal in town.

A safe probably would have indeed fixed the problem but too many people assume this kind of thing only happens in other places. Unfortunately, it can happen anywhere.

Crime in utopia? I shudder at the thought!
When I lived in Boulder someone kicked down our front door. They took my document safe and many valuables. Lost my original birth certificate, pre adoption, I was pretty pissed about that. My roommate lost well over $25k in cash that he had under his bed. He had rules about guns in the house that were promptly dropped.

Yup! The S.S. Utopia has been taking on some water recently- first, the homeowner caps the home invader run amok in May, and just recently, the Good Samaritan used his CCW to stop an attempted murder just blocks from where these burglaries are occurring.
This guy is going to hit the wrong house at the wrong time and end-up on a Pb diet, to which the progressive hand wringing will begin anew...

I laugh EVERY time there is a story/article/report done and I read the words 'it's such a nice place to live..' Like the ghetto has anything to steal..
