View Full Version : New reloader question
Just put together my first 100 rounds of 9mm on my new press.... using 115gr RN and 3.5gr of Bullseye powder. First 10 I seated really low (which I know can be very dangerous)... meaning 1.090 to 1.093 (right at the lower OAL limit).
Since my grains of powder is right at the starting point - pretty safe right ?
(I'd rather be safe than sorry)
Thanks

minimum is: 1.125, so I would bet you have a compressed load, and would not recommend firing them. They possibly will have feeding problems being too short too. Are the bullets Lead RN or Jacketed?
Alliant on their website shows 115 grain GDHP with bullseye @ 4.7 grains. which gun do you plan to fire them in? My Sig Sauers never have liked a light handload, which the 3.5 grains you've loaded might not even get the bullet out of the gun.
what load data books are you using?
Kc - lakewood.
115gr Jacketed Round Nose Bullets... I have Lyman's 49... I used the data from the 115gr Jacked HP with Bullseye powder (thats the powder I am using) to get the powder charge.. just want to make sure I am not going to get excessive pressure
(I will be firing them from my CZ-75b SA)
Thanks

personally I think they are seated too deep, compressed or near compressed charge, and would pull a couple back apart to check.

Reloader for many years here: Pull them (using a kinetic bullet puller) put the powder back in you measure. You should be able to re-bell them and reseat the projectiles. You are not wasting anything.
Thanks guys... followed the advise and pulled them and re-built to 1.145 OAL - Can't wait til next weekend to try em out.
