I've heard that putting a non-airgun scope on a spring powered pellet rifle is a bad idea, something about the spring mechanism damaging the internals of the scope.

But what about a pump-up type pellet rifle? Will that damage a regular scope?

I ask because I have a Daisy Powerline 880 pellet rifle, with a pump-up lever, and a Nikon P-223 scope I'm not using at the moment. Curious if I can safely use the P-223 on the Daisy?

It will be fine. The spring action is what causes damage to regular scopes.

I have a Leupold 6.5-20 EFR on my air rifle. It is an Annie 9003 that runs on compressed air. No issues at all after several years and tens of thousands of pellets.

SWFA says their scopes are made to withstand "forward bolt impulse." Has to do with the way the lenses are secured in the tube.

Well, that was a non-issue! My Daisy and Nikon P-223 work together like they were made for each other! Got some good, heavier target pellets and that combo is scary accurate now. The Nikon worked great on my AR, but I changed it out for a longer range Prostaff. It's outstanding on the air rifle at backyard distances, made the Daisy a whole new experience.
