Found out today that mine don't drop free, all my gen 2 do. Is there an easy fix like filing something down? Let me know what you guys did to fix, thanks.

There's lots of images/threads/vids on the net.

I've had to remove flash and material from the rear spine corners/edges to get even gen2 pmags to drop free in my Seekins lowers. The 20 rounders were especially tight. Funny, the Gen3 20 rounders work better. The 30 and 40's are tight.

If they're not seating all the way, trim/file the "over insertion" stop tabs on the Gen3 rear a little.

Also, bolt fail to lock back issues may be resolved by trimming the flash/lip off the inside rear edge where the follower can make contact. Also have seen several posts about crappy LPK that have short tabs on the bolt catch that doesn't engage the followers.

There's a really ugly vid on youtube (sorry no link) about a guy slamming gen3 mags home and getting them to jam up and not latch because the feed lips spread apart.

This usually helps with dropping free as well

I've ran into the same issues with a few rifles from my friends. The lip for the bolt catch on the gen3s is a bit further forward than the gen2. My guess is to accomodate other 5.56 platforms better. what happens in some ARs is the top of the mag follower will kind of friction lock causing it to stick. We ended replacing their bolt catches with aftermarket ones. (seekins, badger, etc.)

Thanks for the info guys, I talked to magpul and they told me to make a few passes over the mag catch hopefully it will fix it. If not will try options suggested.
