I have a coworker who is active duty that asked a question and I didn't know the best advice to give and where to vector him.
His home of record is NM. He is stationed here until about February then will be in MS for training for about a year, then from there, who knows.
I can find through the reciprocity websites that MS will take CO CCW permits. But what would be best for him to do:
Get one here in CO
Go to his home of record and use his parents address (not thinking this is best)
wait till he gets to MS to get on there.
I just don't know how it works for .mil moving around the first few years and best way to save money and not have to get one every time they move.
Thanks for any advice, vectors

He should get a few just to be safe/ overlap them incase they expire while training or deployed. I know Florida will do a mail in for military.
I recently attended a CCW class on Ft Bragg and guys use their current barracks address. One of my friends is in this boat but can't keep a handgun in his barracks. So you can have the permit but no firearm.

Sounds like he is just going to get one here soon.
Based on my understanding of Colorado's laws if you are permanently (home) stationed in CO you have to have the CO CCW. I had a South Dakota CCW but it was not valid in CO once I was here permanently (PCS). The reciprocity was for travel only. If he is temporary (TDY) in MS (not permanent change of station) then he should be able to use the CO CCW reciprocity there. Of course, it wouldn't hurt to call out to MS and double check.
Is his job in the military law enforcement related? If so, he may fall under LEOSA.

It's confusing but as a military member it matters where where you consider your state of residence. I just changed to a NC DL and insurance and will change my plates too bc it's cheaper here but I didn't have too. As a military member there is a fine line of picking and choosing that's beneficial but with CO shitty taxes and laws, I'm glad to change all my stuff over.
