Shots were fired at Aurora police officers Sunday night, officials said.

When Aurora police officers responded to a call in the 1700 block of Florence Way and Elmire Street around 9:45 p.m. Sunday, officers heard shots fired in the area, said police spokeswoman Diana Cooley.

Shortly after that, shots were fired at the officers, she said. No officers were injured.

There was no suspect information available Monday, Cooley said.

9News reported that earlier Sunday, a caller contacted the Aurora 911 dispatch center and left a threatening message that said, "It's time you guys know that we are no longer playing around with the police departments. Aurora and Denver, we are about to start striking fear, shooting down all cops that we see by their selves."

Cooley told The Denver Post she was not authorized to speak about the call and could not confirm that it happened.

Denver police spokesman Eranda Piyasena said Denver police did not receive a threatening call Sunday, although local law enforcement was alerted to a threatening call that the Aurora Police Department received.

I don't envy police officers at all right now.

You would think the NSA would be able to figure out who it was. Maybe I am just asking too much?

NSA is a lot more worried about national security problems than individual cop threats. I'm sure they could figure out who it was, but that isn't their mission.

AS long as one keeps telling them self that.

[TIN FOIL HAT TIME] IMO. If ones believes "things" , this is all part of the lefts final push for Gun Control & Confiscation.

The governments assets in Aurora are much more important than Angela Merkels cell phone calls. And the local police are their first line of defense. All kinds of shenannigans going on at the top levels of government. I seem to recall the CIA got caught hacking into Congress computers, nobody was punished publicly, as it was about CIA lobbying for more funding. Hell look how long it took to respond to the first plane hit the world trade center and the second one.
Not my job (mission) is a good excuse as any I guess. Renaming mountains in Alaska is important too...

Someone leaked the phone call to FOX 31 (didn't hear it there as I never watch their news). Supposedly the dept. will be releasing it later today to the other news outlets-don't think it'll be on their fb or twitter but anything is possible.

To our friends in blue watch your back!

That makes sense, they're owned by the same company and operate out of the same building.

Stay safe all. Targeting cops is just incredibly stupid. Can't imagine what it would be like without them out there. Making them more nervous only makes mistakes more likely, how is that doing any good? Just stupid. I have also not heard of any other state that has been voluntarily trying harder to correct the cop problems than those here in Colorado. Are there problems, yes, but not with the vast majority. Us vs them does not work..... For either side.

I sincerely hope this gets deescalated quickly.

I keep forgetting all the badge bunnies have been banned..

I wouldn't doubt this is some horrible attempt at humor. A drunken phone call or some mentally disturbed individual.

At least I can hope...

I can't think of a better example of a person/group not having completely thought a plan through than having the idea to target and kill police.

1) Kill Cops
2) ????
3) Profit

That must be what discussions among those groups look like. I don't mean to make light of the situation at all, but this really is so dumb that it is difficult for me to understand.

You assume they have motive beyond bragging rights/creating havoc.

If that was their plan.. wouldn't surprise be a better option? Nothing says 'stupid idea' like warning someone with a gun that you're coming for them.. Granted it could put the entire force on edge and bad things happen that shouldn't, THAT seems like a more likely scenario.

Exactly. Even with the cops knowing, the criminals still have the element of surprise. If someone innocent gets shot because a cop was on edge, that helps their cause even more. Cops don't get the luxury of their targets wearing a badge identifying who they are.

And today downtown Denver was the place of lots of small anti-police protests by the usual group of assholes, I believe the plan is to keep it going tonight as well. At least the PD is keeping a camera on the memorial, 4 guys with flags and signs marched through the plaza, up to the door of hq, then turned around and walked out. Hey, it's their right, I get it, they weren't inciting or promoting any violent actions but their activity pissed me off. I held my tongue and just walked past them when I saw them walking out of the plaza. I was meeting a friend of mine at the PD for lunch, we just shook our heads and moved on.
