Hey all, kind of late

This has been a rollercoaster day with work, now family.

My sisters husband has been missing since 2PM he went out for a hike this after noon. Its not normal for him not to call. She has not heard from him since he left. We have no idea where he went but he frequents: Brained lake, Estes park, Eldorado canyon, flatiron boulder.

Last thing he check on his computer was: Arapahoe basin ski cam shots

We are trying to narrow down the search with tracking his phone or jeep.

Will update when I know more

Update 9/10/15 9am: he has been found and is safe he was up Somewhere by arapahoe peak. He fell and broke his light was to dangrous to walk back with out a light so he stayed up there till first light and search and rescue found him. All i know is someone is in the dog house and grounded from going outside. I see a GPS tracker in my brother-in laws future.

Thank you all for looking and keeping an eye out sister greatly appreciate it.
Thanks!

Thanks!

Wow, crappy deal, I hope he is found safe and sound. On a positive note, it sounds like his experience and fitness level would put the odds in his favor. It's starting to cool off in the high country but it's not winter, and today was fairly warm. Again, I wish the best.

Thanks for the heads up Coop, and I hope he's found alive and well soon. I'll keep an eye open for the Jeep as well!

GPS tracker? Your sister is going to chip him like a pet.

Glad to hear he is safe and all that is broken is his light.

Good news. A backup light would be in order, too. Surefire lights won't easily break. I always carry two, with extra batteries, when I'm out hiking or hunting. They can save your life.

Second rule: 2 is 1, 1 is none. Glad he was found safe.

This. Whenever I leave town my wife knows where I am going, at least the general area.

That is good news, and pretty fast as well. Thanks for the update and life-lesson reminder.... 2 is 1, 1 is none :)

Good for you all. Glad to hear it ended well. I just lost an old friend last week in the Sandia's.

speaking of beacons, i recently got a delorme inreach. nice piece of mind because i am out by myself some times.

also, with the inreach, you can send texts on your position, so, if you're a selfish, self-absorbed dumbass that didn't tell someone where you were, at least they could be getting texts from you to let them know where you were and that you were ok.

also agree on the surefires, and 2 is 1, 1 is none... at some point, you have to cut your load. but, i feel pretty good with a surefire handheld and a surefire headlamp (I bought the headlamp from someone here on the forum)

I know someone who had/used one frequently during a safari trip in Africa.

Man I've been thinking about getting a spot or a delorme for a while now, things like this make me want to pull the trigger.
I think it was the service plans that got me, since I wouldn't use it much for half the year, so I was leaning towards the seasonal/monthly plans delorme offered.

Guess I'd better dust off that research and pick something.

Glad to hear he is found. Could have gone the other way.

When ever i leave town, the wife ask if i could extend the trip an extra week or two. MMmmmm

I had a findme spot. worked good at first. I could send a email that I was OK. Then that stopped working due to satellite inadequacy/failure. They assured me the 911 function worked fine. Then the handheld unit failed. I never got another one. YMMV

I think it's past time to edit the title of the thread. Very glad to hear enduring is okay though.

I would agree, if a mod can change the title as to found so its updated would be great.

Thanks everyone!
