LDS Church members preparing for upheaval this month

I just read a report that a large group of LDS members have connected the dots and are preparing for the next great global upheaval to occur in the next couple of weeks. I like to prepared as much as the next guy and I look at things like this with "interest", without being compelled to action more so than usual. If you look, you'll find any number of prophets claiming TEOTWAWKI pretty much daily and for any number of reasons. I was just wondering if anyone had any insight as to what has the LDS members putting the stake in the ground. Is this just run of the mill [panic], or is there some basis in fact (beyond the everyday understanding that the world is a mess and getting messier).

I don't know what dots they've connected so I have no idea if what they have to say is valid, but prepping has long been a big part of the LDS lifestyle.

There's a lot of people running around with "The End Is Nye" signs lately. Eventually one of them will be right :p

But if everybody knows. Then there's runs on water, fuel, banks etc, traffic's bad enough. Who the hell want's to deal with the same crowd that [panic] when a "stormageddon" is forecast and wipes every store shelf out.

Yeah, I've seen that too. I'm not pulling my money off the market just yet. About 3 months ago, I moved all my investments to less risky stuff, and I'm kind of waiting for a big crash, so I can jump back into the big money-makers and ride it back up. Am I giving investing advice? Absolutely not.

I've heard the 7 year cycle thing, too. But, lets face it, with so much bad news and twisted behavior at all levels of government across the globe, how do you pick this particular 7 year cycle? When did it start/end? Maybe they know something I don't, but I'm having a Hell of a time finding definitive beginning or end of the craziness since the last part of the Clinton years...

I'm certainly not one to ignore the evidence if someone has connected the dots to come to a conclusion worth acting on, but in the last 20 years or so, I think you could pick and choose your unfortunate tidbits from a huge well of crazy. And with everyone predicting the next global upheaval (granted, at some point one of them is going to be right) its hard to give credence to one doomsayer over another.

All of that being said, I do have a great deal of respect for the seriousness with which the Mormons take their prepwork. Its damned impressive!

People i know on the west coast say there's this weird virus going round. BUT.......since the state and locl .gov's haven't said anything, they're not that worried.

Since when is 60 years "sudden"? They've been trying to get that property (which I understand is wholly enclosed inside the Nevada Test Range) for decades. The current attempt to have the property condemned is more likely related to the Obama Administration's tyrannical views and methods as we saw with another Nevada property last year. Obama doesn't believe you own your property so neither do his politically-appointed minions.

You do if you want it to be "old news" before people start paying attention to the election. Given that people generally don't pay much attention until Super Tuesday, this fall is the perfect time to start raising rates.

I'm surprised they haven't raised rates earlier as they have proven they care less about the overall economy than the well-being of Goldman Sachs and other connected donors. At some point, Obama and other other Socialists need to get back to devalueing the dollar so they can pay off today's debts with tomorrow's devalued currency.

Well the Groom mine has been seized by the Air Force. You would have to be a fool to work at area 51. Whole damn place is contaminated with nuclear weapons fallout.
