Few threads I searched had info in PM's so hoping to not miss any good options. Have good friend that is the very innocent/friendly/probably too soft type. Had his wife basically cheat on him twice in a short period a year ago on biz trips. Otherwise seemed to be perfect overly sweet couple. Forgave her but was having trust issues. She didnt like not being trusted and recently put it on him/whatever. He spent a couple days at friends and that sort of thing. She Refuses counseling etc. He's backed off but shes still got them in limbo and he's (and anyone that knows him) about fed up with it and thinking it's time for him to protect himself. (He's been in a sorry state not being able to read to kids at night etc)

Aurora region but if anyone awesome enough I'm sure anywhere in state good.

Cordell and Cordell are good. They have a Location in DTC. Expect to maintain a $5K+ retainer account with any lawyer when it comes to custody issues. Don't let anyone tell him that "Colorado is a Father State." That is Bullshit.

Lawyers are expensive.

From what I knew, more mom friendly. Like that she cheated on him and all that would likely do no good in custody. Only if she was a reject meth head.

Only part that worries me is his funds available. He's finishing his masters, pretty young couple with like 3 and 4 ish yr olds.

Advice: Get a good lawyer.

If neither is a drug addict or has a criminal history, most likely 50/50 custody.
If one or the other wants to move out of state, the court will award full custody to one or the other (ex pulled this one on me seven years ago).
He can have a Child Family Investigator do a report, and the court will usually honor the recommendation of the CFI ($3000 or so)
Tell him to be hyper careful not to get a protective order filed against him. It is extremely easy to get a temporary order filed, and it creates an expensive nightmare.

Best of luck.

Colorado is a no-fault state, and the judge will not even consider stuff like cheating-etc.

Custody issues have to be agreed upon in mediation, if the two parties cannot agree, a CFI can be used. Otherwise arguments about parenting time, etc will not be heard by the judge unless a CFI is involved.

I just went through a battle with my ex over our daughter. Todd Burnham was highly recommended to me and I am very happy with the job he and his team did for me. I now have 100% custody of my daughter. I would highly recommend them.

As mentioned above expect a $5k retainer.
