That's the approximate average the weed industry generated in Taxes, per month for FYI 14-15. To the tune of $70 million. SEVENTY FUKIN MILLION. No doubt the IRS is licking their chops, waiting for the OK from DOJ . Once unleashed their ILL GOTTEN GAINS confiscation will go crazy. THEN the industry will rebuild, just as it did in CA.

Remove it from Schedule 1 and share the wealth.

YET with CO collecting $70 M they still cry there's not enough funding to pay for everything. UNLESS we remove TABOR [facepalm]

It's funny with the economy picking up, all the TABOR talk. Maybe it was one of the factors for Colorado not being hit as hard as some other states. Englewood sent out a letter to invite folks to help plan the spending of their projected surplus. If I see one more median rehab i'm gonna scream.

Yeah, most of those stoners probably filled out the "previous employment" part with "baked".

Yeah, this is what really chaps my ass. More tax revenue rolling into this state than ever before and it's still not enough? BULL & SHIT. The left won't be happy until they have taken so much of other peoples money (aka the middle class) that they've broken them down to lower class. Where the hell is the accountability in government, particularly spending, anymore. I know, I know; that concept disappeared more than a generation ago. How about they quit stealing my money and let me decide how I want to spend it, make the free-loaders earn their own keep, spend only on whats truly needed (not wanted, needed!), actually spend money on what's needed (you know, snow plow/crews, pothole maint., etc), and quit calling taxes "fees" or other deceptive names. DAMN!

I'm sure this was answered somewhere else and I'm too lazy to Google it, but how's the IRS track pot sales with a majority of it being cash?

^^ Even sadder^^ Is the few "Articles & OP ED" pieces moaning How TABOR is preventing education, feeding the homeless, and other entitlement programs from being successful.
Bad enough you take $40-100 per vehicle registration for "road fees"

The more they tax it the more it will go to the black market aka un-taxed market.

You have to strike a balance.

They don't track sales. They pull the tax records from each business. Dispensary A paid $475k . Break down that to average store prices, they have an approximate number of money taken in.

The IRS / gov, looked at average sales for Al Capones store fronts. Noticed numbers didn't jive with what they got from informants, his competitors etc. It's all about t money.
The feds don't need to legalize weed, for their share. They have the IRS to do the dirty work. Them & R.I.C.O

This was all about $ so we can waste even more of it. Onto the next loophole they can exploit. First vehicle registration, next up hmm, real property "registration" fees? They'll invent something, no doubt. Not because they need money, but because they want to blow through it like a 21yo with a mastercard in las vegas.

Close the thread, we have a winner.

It is so much easier to create a tax than to remove or reduce unneeded taxes.

Overcrowded schools , shitty roads, more crime, more homeless, downtown is a pit of degenerates roaming the streets , emergency room visits are at an all time high for pot related problems, one of the highest rates of teens using pot, traffic sucks beyond comprehension , how again are these tax dollars helping ?

All those issues were here before state legalization. Schools are the union / teachers fault. shitty roads are from "fees" and taxes being diverted to other needs the state over promised on. The degenerates are roving bands of "black" who are never mentioned, were blatantly ignored and denied from .gov & LE as the problems downtown. Traffic has sucked for at least 5 years, easy.

I hear the Looper wants to spend $110 million on making Colorado more bicycle friendly. How about he spend the money on what it was intended for and quit trying to raise our taxes to compensate?

They already have those stupid "3 foot" and "2 abreast" road rules and the fucking cyclists abuse the hell out of that and still run red lights and stop signs.

...and I just got back from a little ride on my road bike.

The Looper should give us that $110M, we know where it needs to go..........an MP5 for every member!! :):)

I'd just be happy if they used the money to put out the fire burning at Fort Carson the last few days. Damn smoke is choking me. They got lots of heavy equipment, just use it to put out the fire. They are not being good neighbors. A few years ago the whole west side of Colorado Springs was burning! Once again I feel it is asking to much for the politicians to use common sense.

Please, lets not downplay the recent surge of traffic in the metro area. I've been here for almost 10 years, and it's night and day what it was when I moved here in 06, and that's even with widening major highways like 225.

What is the annual registration on a bike. How often do you renew your cyclist license? I understand most cyclist have cars and pay something for the roads, but lest let them pay for what they use. We have to pay for an off road fee if we ride in the woods, with no roads. Fair is fair.
