No photos yet, sorry, but will post some up later. CZ-527 bolt action in 7.62x39. I wanted a "quality" rifle to shoot up some 7.62 in addition to my "nothing special" ChiCom SKS.

First impressions: It feels very small, almost delicate. Definitely a carbine length, not a full "rifle." The bolt is small, almost makes it feel like a toy to me. The stock is a gorgeous black walnut and the blued finish is flawless. Came with factory scope rings so now I'm on the hunt for a decent scope (probably no more than a 4x.) This is basically replacing the Marlin 336 I sold to another member here back in the late Spring.

Action feels OK but a bit rough inserting the bolt - I'm guessing that's just because it's new, hoping it will smooth out as I start shooting it. Length of pull is perfect even for my long monkey arms.

Overall fit and finish is excellent, but then again, CZ has a long and proud history so I can't say I'm surprised. I'll post pics and a full shooting report once I get a chance to try it out.

I've kicked around getting one for a long time. Mind if I ask how much you paid? Where did you find it? Also pictures or it didn't happen

Gunbroker. Rifle + shipping was $649.99. I had been watching the auctions for a while and they were all over the place from about $599 to $675 + shipping. Finally saw one with a BIN price of $619.99 + $30 for shipping and no CC fees (the CC fee thing just irks me. I know they have a right to to offer a 'cash discount' - but if they know that most people are going to use CCs then it amounts to a CC fee and that rubs me the wrong way.)

I'll get pics up probably next week. Any recommendations for a 4x scope that would work well with 7.62 x 39?

I'd check vortex optics. No idea though I'm terrible on Glass

Pics:

CZ is in the middle, the other two are for size comparison. Rifle on the top is a pre-WWII Winchester Model 70 (my main hunting rifle) and the one below is my home-built Del-Ton middie.

The pictures don't do the wood or the bluing justice, this is a gorgeous rifle!

Despite the fact that this appears to be a 7/8 size rifle, the length of pull is pretty much the same as my Winchester:

Overall I'm impressed with the fit and finish, especially at the price I paid. Seems like lots of rifles in this price range sport a dull matte finish and an ugly plastic stock.

They are well made rifles for the money. With the right ammo they shoot great!!

I've been shooting mine quite a bit lately and found out some interesting things about the little CZ. Mine and a friends definitely prefers .311 bullets. I've shot many US brands with .308 bullets and it would only group 2 - 3 inches at 100yds. Tried some .311 bullets and the groups shank by half or more. The bolt will smooth out with use. Mine is very slick and smooth now. I have a standard Leupold 3-9x40 scope on it and looks and feels just fine. I bought a 50 rd box of Hornady ammo with the SST bullets thinking they were brass cases so I could use the brass to reload only to find out they were steel cased. I'm not sure what bullet dia. they are but I got a 1 inch group out of them.

With a 100yd zero it will hold slightly low at 200 yds and a 340 yds I have to hold the top of the bottom reticle slightly over the steel target to hit it.

If I ever get to go to TX or OK for pigs this is going to the pig gun. If anyone is interested last time I was at American Hunting in Salida they had one on the rack. The number if interested is 719-207-4285
